    It's a secret
I am gradually coming to terms with that possibility as I continue tinkering and eliminating the possible issues.

I noticed my RAM was at 2400 MHz today instead of 3200 so I corrected that.

Thinking of building a productivity minded machine - is the next Ryzen series worth waiting for? Been educating myself here and there. Using my 2013 MacBook Pro but the battery’s getting swollen and I’d like to edit video with no issues. Photography is a hobby and can fall into work related tasks with slideshows and short films of my students from time to time.

Yes. Are you buying a laptop or desktop?Unfortunately it's been really hard to get ahold of Ryzen laptops so if you want a laptop you may want to just wait for Intel Tiger Lake.

On desktop the leaks are saying there is no way you'd want to go Intel, but we will see.

Sorry I’ll be building a desktop - been watching basic build videos since 2017 but I still have a lot to learn so I don’t buy parts that don’t make sense when paired with one another.

Ryzen 100% for productivity. Personally I still think the 3700X is the sweet spot, others say the opposite and call it a CPU that shouldn't exist, haha.

I'd wait for Ryzen 4000 series. It's right around the corner and it'll only benefit you to wait. Either the release will be awesome and you get the latest and greatest CPU, or it'll be lackluster and you can get a good deal on a 3000 series.

Ryzen benefits from fast memory, and it supports PCIE4.0. I'd suggest your preferred CPU with a x570/b550 board, 16+ GB of 3200 DDR4, and a M.2 SSD.

Exactly - my last computer which I wasn't ever planning on modding (even if I could which I don't exactly know if I could or not) lasted 7 years. I figure if I'm able to maintain this new build and upgrade as needed or dump it and use the money for a newer one down the line, then another 7+ years is awesome. My (as everyone I'm sure) goal is to have something that is just enough over-performing that my needs are always met and anything I pay for doesn't become outdated / depreciated super quickly (which seems to happen when going too low or too high for price range based on videos testing old equipment with today's software).

My first real PC build went together in 2013. I didn't retire it until the end of 2019 and the only changed was that I added ram to it (8GB to 16GB) and changed the GPU twice (770 to 970 to 2060). Other than that everything was the same as it was 6 years prior. My wife is now using that same setup for work and light gaming with no issues at all.

I don't think it's unrealistic at all to plan to get that kind of longevity out of a machine as long as you start on the foundation of a good CPU that'll carry you through the years. GPUs are flippable, RAM can be added, hard drives can be upgraded, but that CPU needs to have legs. I think anything Ryzen 3600 and above would be fine because we'll see games taking more advantage of SMT/Hyperthreading in the future.

Anyone know if Newegg is dropping the 3090 at 8 am EST like they did the 3080?

Perfect. That's 7 am for me. Not that I actually expect to get one but I'll give it the old college try. If I don't snag one I'll wait until the AMD cards drop.

nVidia has forewarned they will be extremely short.

Nope lol. Never even saw an active link. Bots won big today again I suspect. The worst part about that is I would imagine that this will just mean more bots for the foreseeable future buying everything up they can and more bots for the AMD launch.

I could have gotten a gigabyte, chose to wait for EVGA, sold out too fast for me to even get add to cart.

The bots can run script faster than we can see the website lol. They have to move to 2FA for launches. I mean I know it won't happen, but they need to do it soon because this isn't good for customers.

EVGA site lasted 50 minutes today. Though their servers were all over the place. Failed to have an account prior to release soo blew my chance.
