Wait a couple weeks for zen 3.

Do you need 64gb of ram? Those sticks are also a bit slow IMO at 2400...though case 14 is good. I'm more of a cas 16, 3200 or 3600 ram guy for amd.

    You can get windows cheaper

As the others said wait for Zen 3 (AKA The new Ryzen chips being announced on October 8th)

Why that motherboard? For the parts you're running a B550 board will offer you a better board at that price point. While the Prime isn't a bad motherboard it is pretty basic for a X570 design.

The Lian Li O11 has lots of room but need lots of fans or else it'll run hot. It's a water cooling case. If you're on air there are possibly better options IMHO. This is coming from someone who does run one lol.

Get 3200 mhz or higher ram, as @velillen said. I wouldn't over focus on CAS timings necessarily but CAS 16 is better if you can find it. If you can find CAS 18 3600 mhz ram that's pretty much the same thing but slightly faster since frequency > CAS timing with Ryzen 3000 and above.

The Windows comment is a little vague he made though. Are you going to run any VMs? If not, just get Windows 10 Home. There is nothing Pro really offers anymore that a normal user needs except maybe the ability to run VMs through Windows.

I used to have Geil One. It was 512MB DDR-400 CL1.5. everyone is sitting here talking about RTX gpus and I'm running my rx470 on a 1 lane PCIe link over a USB cable.

I can't wait for DDR5 running at 7000 mhz with 30ish CAS timings lol.

Rumor mill today on Zen 3 after a leak showed it beating up the 10900K in a single threaded test. The 3900K will be a 150 W (yikes) monster with a 5.0 GHz boost that it can actually hold that high for significant periods of time. No word on where it could OC too but if it can actually hold 5.0 GHz one would assume a good board plus water should allow for damn near that. Supposedly a 20% IPC increase which adds up to a roughly 17% jump past Intel Core in Ice Lake.

Assuming this is what your talking about,
I'm not sure I would call that a "leak". For all we know, this thing was running on LN2. With that out of the way, I have high hopes for it.

That and a website posted some "leaks" claiming some 10% higher numbers in CS:Go with a 3080 at 1440P over the 10900K that have since been pulled down. I totally agree, no one knows what the conditions were but it is exciting we might see a huge jump on the CPU side to match up with the shiny new GPUs.

Mmmm, wife complained about her computer.
Just needs it for schoolwork and the like.
Her current "build" is leftover parts from my last upgrade.
Time to convince her to let me build her a new mATX...
    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gXhd8M

She already said she doesn't want it and wants to save the money for something more important.... What's more important than schoolwork and her education, amirite? Plus it's under $500... Gonna have to sell her on it a bit

NUC bad. Expensive, proprietary, no real way to upgrade/expand, etc.
If I wanted something that small I'd build a mini-ITX.
mATX is fine. Has the option for adding a GPU later.
Also want to keep the 5.25" bay for an ODD.

As far as cases go, you can't go wrong with Fractal, Cooler Master, or Corsair IMO.

I did almost that exact same build a month or so ago and was very impressed. Same CPU/RAM, ATX mobo, 1TB SSD so it was a tad more expensive. Built it for a friend's mom as a work PC. She loves it. It's dead silent and since it's not really a gaming PC thermals were a non issue. Definitely recommend that CPU.
