Its a workhorse thats for sure. Had it since they released. Its surprising how much support the LCD still has. Especially with programs like HWINFO where you can literally have it show any system info you want. itll be a sad day when it dies.

But now for the AMD presentation

They do. Only suite I don't mind is Logi G. It doesn't seem to mess up and actually holds its settings.

RAGE MODE! Gotta love they crap companies come out with naming wise lol.

Cards all look promising. Will have to wait and see with independent benchmarks though.

The 6900XT looks the most interesting though. Cheaper and if it can be close to a 3090 in gaming itll be a winner IMO. The other two...still potentially great options especially if AMD/AIB's have stock (and benchmarks back them up)

The 6800 was the meh out of the three. Going by their slides at least. Since its up against the 3070 (which is MSRP ~80 bucks cheaper) at least. But it does have double the memory

Will also be interesting to see benchmarks not using a Ryzen 5000 series CPU and see if theres gain just from that vs using older chips

6800XT vs 3080 is the battle I want to see. I hope they have plenty of stock.

I wonder if the Zen3 + RDNA2 performance boost they talked about is a gimmick to sell more AMD products or an actual advantage.

Guaranteed there is. They only used the 5000 series though because it is literally going to be the best, at least until Rocket Lake drops.

Normally I'd say wait for benchmarks but there are already leaks aplenty showing the 5000 series having the best single core scores ever seen.

This will be completely a stock battle off the bat if AMD can supply. If nVidia doesn't figure out yields it could get ugly. If AMD can't supply then it's just a grab what you can scenario.

The 5000 series leaks are crazy. Lots of cannot be faked benchmark scores that point to 5000 series being king for the next little while. That being said I can't see it being any better or worse with AMD or Intel apart from the difference in IPC.

I should have been more clear. Lets see some benchmarks using a 3600/2600/10900k/ect. We already (for the most part) know the 5000 chips are going to be great. But all we have seen (we confirmed wise) benchmark wise is the 6000 series gpu's on 5000 series CPU's. Lets see the numbers on older gen AMD and intel.

Interestingly I dont remember seeing anything on a nvenc competitor. Which is one area AMD has been lacking for awhile now

    This^^
I would like to see benchmarks with the 3600 as it’s in the same performance category as what a lot of budget minded people (like myself) built with.
I’m itching to see some R5 3600 and RX6800XT action in flight sim, my RX580 barely utilizes the 3600 so I’m curious if the 6800XT will make it CPU bound.

Yeah, I was okay with it since the 3080 was benchmarked in the slides on the 5000 series as well. I expect we see the cards stay close down the stack, with the edge going to AMD, and the newer chips, the more CPU bound the FPS.

The problem I think AMD is having with nvenc is that nVidia literally paid OBS to build their software around it. While AMD could come out with a hardware streaming encoder they likely would need to create their own software to use it. I can't see OBS using whatever AMD develops. I'm not sure AMD wants to go down that rabbit hole, yet. Plus they can always say that going up 2-4 more cores allows you to use CPU encoding anyways, so just buy a better Ryzen lol.

I think they went just cheap enough to watch nVidia react. They trolled nVidia with a price for the 5700XT that wasn't accurate. There is nothing stopping them from going lower.

On that, will the 3080 price adjust if it really isn't that competitive with the 5800XT or will nVidia lean on their feature set and guys like Stormtrooper to coast through this competitive generation like Intel?

As far as I know, mine still works. It's been in storage a couple years though.

How easy is it to overload the USB 3.0 bandwidth channels on the MoBo itself? I have a B450 steel legend MoBo for my 3600 and I’ve been having some USB issues with it.
I have 2 external HDD’s hooked up, keyboard and mouse, UPS, and then a USB splitter with power supply that usually has one or two things plugged in (typically the flight yoke system and a microSD card adapter).

Would all of that be enough to overload the bandwidth or is it more likely to be a driver issue?

I've had up to 6 USB 3.0 drives (3 in RAID0 x2) syncing, and the read/write speed of the drives is still the limiting factor.

Im guessing drive issues or something else What sort of issues though?

Ive had two preclears via usb 3 going just fine a few times and both times its the disks limiting speed.

The first thing I noticed was the external HDD’s weren’t connecting, I switched them to direct plug in on the MoBo and rebooted them and they work fine, after that the flight toke system wasn’t being recognized plugged in either on the splitter or on the case, rebooting the PC fixed that though.
It seems like my PC runs rough after a reboot or shut down, it will run fine 24/7 for 3-4 weeks and then I’ll shut it down to go out of town or because of high lightning threat and then the first couple boots will be buggy, reboot it a few times and everything straightens back out :notsure:

How much power are you drawing with all those devices. While USB 3.0 did introduce higher amp draw if there is any 2.0 bottlenecks in the middle, or at the cable itself, I'm wondering if you're getting some wonky voltages.

Could also just be a flakey controller.
