They had nothing at Micro Center when I was there earlier. Some guy was building up an entire system and was trying to get a 2080. He left with everything but the GPU.

The first 2080s only shipped on Wednesday and the 2080Ti’s are delayed for shipping until next week.

The one near me is usually a mess, like a tornado went through. I usually order online and pick up at the counter. If i carry stuff through the store i im bombarded by sales guys trying to put stickers on the shit like they helped me. They must get commission or spiffs or something.

I enjoyed Frys but none in my neck of the woods.

Yup, used to work at one as a cashier. They put stickers on anything and everything, even people buying simple earbuds would have stickers on them. Even if you had an item that didnt have a sticker on it, the system would still ask for one at checkout to be scanned, so you would have to scan the pool sticker.

Lol the stupid stickers. The guy put them on both the GPU order sheet and warranty. At least its not like Lowe's where you can be in the store for 45 min and not have a single employee ask if you need help. Only have to wait a minute or two in each department before someone asks if you need help and they seem to have decent knowledge of the products.

Usually most stores you get ""ummm have to look it up" or "ugghh I have to speak to a manager"

I have to stay away from my store or I'll get tempted to do a new build. It's not fair how cheap CPUs have gotten since 2015, RAM is a different story

I like Memory Express in Canada because while it is commission they have a booth at the parts counter for every working associate. You get in line and they’ll help you find whatever and they get credit for it. No one is running crazy around the store lol.

Yeah, mine came in today. This store only received one. It was no return after sale which I can understand when you're that short on the pre-order. They did have two Asus Dual Fan 2080's as well but I wanted a triple fan card.

My Strix 1080 TI is still giving me bad performance after using DDU to wipe AMD (had a MSI 390) and Nvidia drivers than clean install of the latest Nvidia driver. Don't know what else to do.

That's strange. Is it something with the card itself? We use DDU all the time at the office when switching between NVIDIA/AMD cards and no issues here. The strix cards are beasts so they should perform well. We prefer the FE cards since we put them back to back in the cases to fit as many as possible. I guess we won't be able to do that with the new RTX cards (if we get any)

I'm going to check cables, mess with BIOS and boost the RAM speeds and hope that works. If it doesn't I'm going to have to backup important files and start over. I'm using the 2nd PCIE becsuse I need clearence from the CPU cooler but it's 16x so it should work fine. Took 30 min to hit the tab to release the card so I moved it down a slot.

What's your MB? A lot of mainstream boards don't provide x16 to the second slot and anything 1080Ti and up suffers from the PCI-E 3.0 x8 limitations on data speed if not connected correctly.

Alright, so personal review of the 2080? Great card. It's pushing over 100 fps in 2K with Rise of the Tomb Raider maxed out (that's minimum btw) and in every other game I have it hits the 144 fps limit I have set for g-sync. Hits up to 72 c under load but that's not horrid at all considering is 225 watt card. That's temperature after 2 hours of solid Tomb Raider. It's about double the FPS of a 1070 at 2K.

BTW those are all at stock clocks. I still have another 10% left in the tank from overclocking when I want it. Definitely not disappointed considering RTX and DLSS are right around the corner.

Also if you don't want a nVidia card it might be worth waiting until Christmas to see what AMD does. Quietly some rumors have started that Polaris will get a die shrink and GDDR6 which could push a 680 into 1070Ti performance level. That could be a killer deal. Keep in mind though that more tariffs are coming on January 1st so don't wait too long.

I have also seen some boards have a PCI-E x16 gen 3 as primary, but secondary slots are PCI-E gen 2. Could also be worth researching for the mobo.
