Upgrade for the laptop. It won't be NVMe speeds, but in RAID0 it'll be a decent bump in speed. Only $54 each.

Edit: I didn't realize that WD aquired SanDisk a few years ago. These SSDs are the same as the WD blue SSDs for half of the price.

The first versions didn't have a TPM 2.0 check. Actually that still may be the case. However the launch version on October 5th will and will not install on any system without TPM 2.0 support.

Are there any tricks to the trade these days to keep an eye on or is there zero hope of scoring a 3060ti for less than like $500? I've been signed up on EVGA's list for at least a couple of months now with no dice.

The RTX2060 has been a dang good card (thank god it's RTX with DLSS), but I'm really falling behind the curve now with newer releases at 1440p if I'm wanting to push more than 60fps.

I haven't seen any. I'm right there with ya. I'm rocking a Rx470 right now that throws up static at times and I'm just chugging along. Would love a 3070 but with all the running around it takes to get one I just can't pay the price they are asking for.

Same, I refuse to pay scalper prices man.

The most expensive card I ever bought was an EVGA GTX770 for $440.

Replaced it with an EVGA GTX 970 for like $380 but it came with Witcher 3 and MGSV which I was planning on buying both. So net cost to me $260.

Replaced that with an EVGA RX2060 that I got on B-stock for $300.

I just can't play the scalper game. :pout:

It seems Best Buy is the option to scoop up a founders edition for $399, but I think they’ve all been in store drops. I tried to sign up with evga, but they aren’t even accepting anymore people for the time being due to demand.

I’m in the same boat. Wanting to upgrade from my rx580, but refuse to pay over msrp

Anytime I see one I stop by and see what's there. A tech noticed I was looking and they said Mondays are when they usually drop but they will get such a limited stock they are gone quickly. I'd love to have a 3070 reference at MSRP but I'd just admitting defeat for now. Nothing makes the 470 I have unplayable really just most settings have to stay on medium.

I signed up for EVGA's queue on a 3060 in February and finally got notified end of July to buy mine. Aside from that I've had one other shot at a rx6700 from the daily shuffle, after probably two dozen days of entering, but ended up passing on it.

With GPU prices and shortage, I ended up building my system at the exact right time, got a RTX 2080 Super from Bestbuy. My friends called me an idiot for not waiting for the RTX 3000 series to come out, when they planned upgrade and now I'm the only one with a newer GPU that didn't spend scalper price.

I really should sell my old GTX 970 with prices so high right now but I don't want someone to spend that much on a 7 year old card, I also should really sell that old PC as whole, but I can't bring myself to get rid of the MSI KRAIT motherboard as I think it is the coolest one ever release with the clean black/white colors and snake emblem. I'd take that over all the fancy RGB crap all the current ones have.

Best bet would be to go one of the Georgia MicroCenters but it looks like a bit of a drive for you if you really needed a new GPU. One is in Duluth and the other is in Marietta. If you have Discord there is a server with chat rooms for each store in the country so people keep track of stock, MicroCenter website isnt 100% reliable.

I would honestly just stick with the 2060 as its still a good GPU. My friend picked one up earlier this year to replace a defective 570.

Its not worth your whole day driving and waiting outside a store for a chance of a GPU at MSRP.

I did this on a whim during a vacation. Granted I wasn't looking at a Nvidia build, was able to get a 6700 xt for MSRP. Serves my purpose since old desktop was around seven years old. I'm still toying with what to do with my MSI 5600XT now.

Yeah I have a few old builds kicking around from my brother and I, plus an old minecraft server machine taken from old Dell Optiflex parts I "salvaged" from my work's electronic recycling cage.

I also grabbed 6 old Dell monitors all 21' 1080p had HDMI inputs that I gave to friends and family, not sure if you're allowed to take stuff from their recycling program but the first stage of recycling is reuse!

Got selected in the shuffle today for an aorus 3060 ti, I have a little over an hour to decide on it.. I’m on the fence as I have a 3060 right now and don’t really need the mobo that’s in the bundle.

Well, I bought it. If anyone is looking for a gently used 3060 at not quite MSRP but also not quite scalper prices, let me know

Or a gigabyte AORUS elite B570 ATX mobo, that I have no use for but am assuming I can sell for not much of a loss haha.

Got an opportunity to get an oculus rift for under a hundred bucks, is it worth it? I know nothing about VR, PC has a R5 3600, 32GB RAM, and a 3700XT, so I think it should be able to push the frames for VR.

I think that's a good deal but I believe the Rift requires a Facebook account (which doesn't matter if you're already on FB). Someone correct me if I'm misremembering

    Bob's in the PC thread.

    :goingcrazy:

I must of got lucky. I had my Asus TUF OC 3090 within two weeks of launch. I signed up for EVGA notifications and was able to help @deadpocketss grab one too. I paid $50 over MSRP for a Strix 3060 off someone I knew was using a bot, he's a jerk but you have to do what you can when your wife needs a new video card right meow. Stuck my name down on an Asus Dual 3060Ti at a local brick and mortar. Fluked out and they had one the next week, sold the 3060 to a buddy who was still rocking a 750Ti. Moral of the story? Keep trying. If you give it a real effort in the shuffle, sign up for every queue, and maybe bend your own rules by grabbing a scalper card for slightly over retail if you can, you'll find a card. Oh, and don't lock yourself to team green. A 6600XT is basically a 3060, you aren't turning on ray tracing with the 3060, and unless you must have DLSS it's a good option with better availability.

It's a nice collab. Hopefully they expand it to the 3080/90 and and offerings too.

It will be interesting to see testing of the heatsink portion though. I'm sure the fans have a lot to do with it but it does sound like the heatsink portion was done by Asus and just uses noctua fans. So let's see how the heatsink does with other brands fans.
