Nice build......but is anyone else going to ask about the roll of duct tape, 3 flashlights, 2 grenades, 3 g shock watches and 2 framed pics of the dog?

To be honest, those are my favorite parts of the whole setup. Really digging the live camera setup too. Makes me want to get a 3rd monitor now

I saved a ton, actually leading up to black friday where some of the best prices, I stared tracking Amazon and newegg on the major component before and they actually cheaper than on Black friday.

Mother board - BF price $499. for one day before that....it was down to $437
CPU - BF price $579. before that $565
4TB SSD was $400 when it came out in Sept. I got it for $250 and they sold out (I actually was lucky enough to get it on backorder on New Egg)..then they prices went up to $350 after they came back in stock.
Fans - I was able to get 1 set from New Egg for $85 and you got a $25 gift card...these are always sold out and went as high as $125 with a 3 week delivery from amazon
Case and Ram were off only $10 bucks.
THe Monitor I got back in Sept from Amazon on sale for $660 and it is usually $850+ on Amazon.

You just have to keep on eye on Amazon(and New Egg sometime)...their prices can really fluctuate with random short day long sales.

Interesting enough - Black friday was the best prices.....They never went lower on Cyber Monday. I kept track of everything. Also I dont know if you caught, but in early november New Egg started offering certain items as "Black Friday Price Protected"...so if it went lower on Black friday, they would automatically credit you credit card for the difference and you didn't have to file anything. Nothing ended up being lower, but several of the items I got early went out of stock by black friday...so it was a good program. I tried to buy as much from New Egg, since they are the little guy compared to Amazon. Both of them pretty much had the same prices on everything.

Visited my parents this weekend and nabbed an old PC they had in the closet, some dual core i3 4xxx series, 8gigs of ram, 1tb harddrive circa 2013 box with the intent to turn it into a NAS. Just put in the order for 2x 8tb seagate spinners on sale for $109 each. I've never seen storage that cheap before. Now to investigate unraid vs truenas core

 

Any idea what could cause a random crash while playing palworld? I figured an 850 watt PSU was enough for a 6700 xt GPU

 

Could be anything; could even have the process terminated by other means (weird shit downloaded on your computer) but need way more info than just 'crashing'. Could even be an outdated driver, ram issues, anything.

Funny Palworld was mentioned, downloaded it yesterday and have put a good 4-5 hours into it already.

Doubt it's a GPU or PSU issue as the game is super easy to run.

 

I’ll test with other games. Only happens while in discord+ game+ googling info

 

Never happened before. All I changed recently was GPU, PSU, went to a new m.2 SSD. Computer just goes black and shuts off. Super weird


Gpu drivers should be up to date. Checking cpu and bios updates I guess

 

So discord + palworld can run. I then tried to open a chrome tab, and black screen and shuts off. Weird.

Also deleted all the new software razer made me download when I re installed everything to my hard drive. for some reason Task manager showed that running in background using tons of memory. using process of elimination.

This so far. Gonna keep running. How likely is it after swapping psu,gpu, and hard drive that ram just starts messin up right away? Dumb question, are there actual intel drivers to download. When I look up “7700k drivers” all that comes up is the intel graphics drivers. But with a dedicated graphics card that’s irrelevant right?

also need to test while running a different game + discord. And need to test running pal world + other programs. See if either palworld or discord could maybe have some corrupted files or somethin with the program causing issues

 

Your BIOS will either accept your CPU, or not. Seeing as how you're using your PC, it's not CPU-related.

I'd keep testing, normally takes a few hours to complete.

New build?...although that's a rather old setup being a 7th Gen.

 

I put a new GPU(used) , PSU(used) ,and m.2 SSD (new) into an old build and did fresh install of windows


850 watt should power a 6700xt gpu just fine. When I was playing league of legends and downloading games on steam and listening to iTunes and had chrome open all simultaneously on this new configuration everything was fine. Today I downloaded palworld and discord. And crashes began.

like I said, still need to check if I can run discord+ other games + chrome. Or run palworld + other programs that aren’t discord. Although if something was corrupt with one of those downloads I’d expect some sort of error message yea?

 

I'll let others significantly smarter than me to chime in.

But if I'm going to game and multi-task as much as you are, I'd be looking into a more modern chipset. I mean, does your old motherboard even support an m.2 at full speed?
