I have a Kraken 360 on mine. Those temps are normal and they are fine, X3Ds run hot.

That said I would 100% buy an Artic Liquid Freezer III over the NZXT if I had to do it again. The NZXT has proprietary software that is hot garbage. The only reason I got this one was because BB had it local on sale and I didn't have the AM5 mounts for my Liquid freezer II.

I have a Corsair something or other 420 mm on mine but it's overkill. The X3D chips top out at under 200 watts, you could cool one with a good double stack air cooler. I feel like the bigger deal now is the thermal pastes available. I always liked Kryonaut but I find it wicks/pushes out of the gap too easily and you'll need to repast yearly to see the best results. Don't get me wrong, it's okay for a couple of years, but every computer I've used it on showed a massive amount of paste pushed out and almost none left under the cold plate, with terrible temperatures as a result. The liquid pastes are probably the best for short term use, but the newer options are better for daily driving.

I went with a Kryosheet when I went from the 7900X3D to the 9800X3D and my water temperatures are up but my CPU temperatures seem to be much better and holding well. That makes me think the overall heat transfer is better and it's a solid so it won't wick out or push out with temperature fluctuations. Honeywell PTM 7950 is also supposed to be excellent for wicking/push resistance but it's only available through the LTT store or sketchy AliExpress vendors who often sell Chinese knockoff materials. I know Der8auer/thermal grizzly released a phase change sheet of their own too, but I've heard it's not PTM 7950 and doesn't show the results that the real thing gives.

I initially installed mine with the NZXT paste the AIO came with. Then I re-pasted it to some Arctic MX6. It's thick stuff, hard to scmeaer around. Temps not any different so I think the NZXT stuff was decent as well.

Yeah, it's the repasting I hate. Most folks don't even burn in their paste anymore, let alone check their temperatures a few times a month to see if anything is changing. Don't get me wrong, I think there's a lot of good thermal pastes out there. I don't think any of them that are commonly recommend are terrible. I do like though that the graphene sheets and phase change materials don't degrade or move nearly as much as paste, which eliminates most of my complaints. They seem to post as good or better temperatures as the best pastes too, so it's a buy once cry once thing.

Arctic Silver doesn't hold up as well now in testing, but lots of folks still use it. I avoid it mostly because if I'm going to use a conductive thermal paste, I'd grab a contact frame and seal to make sure none of it ends up on the motherboard.

9070XT starts at $599. If AMD can drop a bunch of cards within $50 of that, and nVidia holds the 5070Ti up around $900, things could get interesting.

Fair but AMD was ready to launch a month ago. Hopefully they've been moving cards with the delay. There will still be scalpers, but hopefully a few make it to gamers.

Anyone have recommendations for which of these settings I should have turned on? Older system that I slapped a newer card in little bit back. Im on 3440x1440 P 144hz monitor so stuff like new COD or newest battlefield games I can tell I have to turn settings down to keep 100 FPS.

Even star wars battlefront I can only run medium settings to keep smooth frames lol.

Just trying to optimize best I can

    Turn on anti-lag.

Which card? That 7700K is probably bottlenecking it.

Pretty sure I'm tapped out on CPU until I swap mobo too.

I played the heck out of Star Wars battlefront 2 on xbox. The developers broke that game, ruined it and abandoned it. :laser:

I'm running my Fractal Celsius+ S36 on my 9800X3D and it runs hot compared to my old 12700kf. Average idle at 45, max during load is at 78. My 12700kf was 36 idle 62 under load. My system still stays quiet inside my Fractal Define 7.

    Full specs:
    Asus TUF RTX 4080
    Asus TUF X870
    AMD 9800X3D
    Fractal Design Define 7
    Fractal Design Cesius+ S36
