Don't need a GPU but I can't wait to see what AMD has to offer.

This 50xx launch has been a complete shit show.

It'll be interesting. I'm curious to see if nVidia drops any cards that are actually close to MSRP for the 5070.

I remember buying a new GPU used to mean playing the silicone lottery, finding out how far you can push a GPU and really get more than your money's worth (which were at least sold as advertised)

Now you're lucky to even get stock performance with these GPU's and missing ROPS

Well, it looks like the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB is sold out everywhere.

I'm going to order the mobo, ram and hard drive next week. I've decided on the MSI MPG Carbon X870E, G Skill Trident Z5 64gb and either Samsung 990 Pro or WD SN850X for the nvme.

Then I'll just need to pick a case, psu and a few other misc items. AZ really needs a Microcenter or dedicated PC store.

Rainy Sunday case swapping. Pretty happy with how this is turning out! This case is a Jonsbo D31. I had never even heard of this brand before yesterday. They seemed well regarded so I gave it a shot. Everything is nice quality, and the layout is extremely well thought out and flexible for any type of build. This tower is on what I would consider the smaller end for a "mid tower" but it still fit the goods. That's 280mm aio and a full size ATX psu in there! 280 probably overkill but I had just had it sitting around so fack it. It clears the mobo heat sink by like 20 microns. :alien: Got plenty of space for the gpu now which is one the reasons I needed to do this swap. The 3060 is just keepin the slot warm. Going to watch this AMD drop and maybe it'll get a 9070, if not a 5070ti. Jonsbo gets a thumb up from me.

Hardware Unboxed is saying that retails will have more 9070XT cards available at launch than the entire amount of 50 series nVidia cards that have been sold to date. If they sell out to scalpers, AMD tried I guess lol.

I remember reading that retailers have received cards months in advance (2-3).

No need for a PC now but man, that new AMD chip does sound appealing. Especially since I'm subject to the whole Intel issue with my 13600k :bananadead:

In the coming years I'll definitely go full AMD if I decide to upgrade. Part of me wonders how much of a bump I'd get swapping JUST mobo cpu ram. One of those mobo cpu combos would likely convince me at micro center but no shipping on bundles.

Recently I haven't really felt the need to given what I'm doing. I might just be swayed by seeing how big of an improvement my PC did by only swapping the original 1070 I built with to a 6700XT I found used for 200 bucks that the guy Purchased new in mid 2022.

    Yas.

At least they're dropping a day before launch. I really have not liked how nVidia has been dropping the review embargo right as the cards go on sale for anything under the 90 series. Im not a fan of making people line up and commit before they even know if the card performs. Even if the 9070XT is DOA, at least folks will know before purchase.

I love how, by the 70 series, you can tell that tech tubers are just done with the launch cycle lol. Like the 5070 isn't bad per say. 15-20% uplift, decent price on the FE, etc. No one is showing it any love though, they're tired of the nVidia antics and a couple like Jay heavily lean on waiting until the 9070XT reviews drop.

Just getting into some review skimming over my coffee. Kinda starting to believe those ±2% to 5070ti numbers are possible? If that and the 350w OC models fall in sub $800 they will sell a f-ton of them day one. The Nvidia market is drier than a peanut right now unless you want to pay 2x msrp. The AMD drop will turn into the same thing if they haven't shipped as many as they claim.

Jay, Linus, and HU all seem to be saying wait, which is haven't seen from them in a while, so I'm thinking worst case the 9070XT is disruptive.

What's really annoying is that as much as nVidia has dropped the ball, a lot of videos are circling around saying the same thing and being a bit repetitive. Even with the big channels covering the same topic multiple times over.

I'm seeing other youtubers I've either a) never heard of before or b) are completely new with 5 subscribers, all covering the same exact story.

You can only say AI so many times before a piece of you dies I guess. To be fair, nVidia does give reviewers talking points and they have a history of trying to pull support from reviewers that don't cover them.

Well, my home network is finished! Almost.. but mostly! Spent the weekend underneath my house army crawling through the crawlspace and successfully ran ethernet cables pretty much everywhere I wanted. Only thing missing now is a few smaller switches scattered throughout (every cable run was for a single port). Being on this side of things, I ended up with a lot of extra cable, and should've just run multiple cables to each outlet for multi-ports, but oh well. Its done, and I intend to never mess with it again after this weekend.. That was not fun lol. So gonna just put smaller switches at a few of the wall outlets.

Piggybacking off of that, I got rid of 2 of my 5 mesh routers/points to go back down to 3 mesh points total, all wired backhaul, so hopefully the wifi improves as well and all of the ping issues are resolved.

So now that I have a crap ton of cat6 cable, keystones, and other unused ethernet related goodies leftover, what should my next project be? :anonymous: What ethernet-related projects do people get into that DON'T require getting back under the house and running more cables? lol Build a small network rack for future home, small system for future cameras, or what other uses are out there that I don't know to research yet?

:rofl:Maybe I'll stick to wifi cams haha

But seriously, I can't think of any other things I'd ever consider having that would require a bunch of ethernet aside from a camera network. Maybe I'll just hold on to all the extras for our next home lol.
