What happened is the company that makes pretty much everyone's switches stopped making all of them in Japan and moved production to China. I don't know a single mainline manufacturer that uses the actual Japanese switches, they're all the cheaper and lower QC Chinese version. So pick your poison.

Same, mine developed a double click issue. RMAd it, easy replacement but never used it. Ended up giving it to some neighbor kid.

Partially true, I can definitely say for my Logitech that while they advertised 50million click life span had chinese made switches, cause i took that shit apart with intent to repair. So they will be hit n miss for sure.

Omron, global switch maker for most things related to mice (and other stuff) has two designations now D2F - these are still produced in Japan at least by my knowledge and experience (i still have quite a few) I havent built a mouse in a while so this could have changed. And D2FC, this is a a Chinese production version, this is the version youll find in production level mice. If one is comfortable and or cares to swap you can swap them all the same.

Boutique mice makers will use d2f's or like a kailh 8.0/4.0/2.0 (great switch btw if you like clickty clack in your mice) but you'll pay for this type of hardware (not really sure why) and boutique mice can come with their own sets of issues and theres little support. Endgame (when i considered them boutique, not so much these days) have decent support and use (maybe not today) kailh switches but i had software issues with their mice, I do like their xm1 though.

Mice and keyboards is a rabbithole that goes as deep as you want it to go. I still believe that if you can find one, can not go wrong with the ol ms intellimouse, microsoft gets a lotta shit wrong but that mouse was something they got right, like windows7.

I’ve always been a steel series rival since making the switch from a logi. They haven’t let me down since but I also usually only play fps games so don’t need macros binds. A lot of buddies love the new razor viper though.

who plays what on pc. Let’s game! Pubg and rocket league now. Debating on picking up wow again

Great explanation. Yes, all true, I way over simplified.

Double clicking is unfortunately becoming all to common.

So far a non-issue with my Steelseries mouse :fingerscrossed:

Think I've already owned it a good 2 years now along with a SS keyboard and headset.

I've used the wireless version. I found it too heavy but I'm more of a lightweight mouse user. I think otherwise it's very similar to the G502 line, I mean everyone has a G502 clone.

Here I am trying to pack up everything and move out of state and yet I keep ordering more stuff. :annoyed: The guts of the system should hopefully be here tomorrow evening. I thought finding a cramped case would make the build extra fun. Actually, I really wanted the turquoise version, but it's only available in the smaller sizes and wouldn't work with my motherboard.

So, the mobo and other core components are installed. I'm going to play around with cable management tomorrow as it's been a very long time since my last PC build. Everything appears self explanatory, but we'll see.

I wasn't expecting the 5070ti to be so huge! I thought it would be noticeably smaller than the 5080s and 5090s, but I've never checked the official specs online. My last build was probably 2006 era with a 7600GT. That was roughly the size of a 3x5 index card. The 4tb Samsung NVMe was a surprise too. I guess technology has changed after a couple of decades.:rofl:

I think the NZXT Kraken is going back to Newegg. I found a plain black Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420mm on eBay for $110 direct from Arctic, so I ordered that this evening. That should be here next week 24th-27th. So now I have 3 AIO's to pick from.

Only a few pictures tonight as I got carried away installing everything. The green looks different in person and changes a bit under bright light.

A lot of cards size now is excessive. I still can't believe that, with some undervolting, my card runs games great at 50ish c lol. Even the hot spot is in the low 60s.

Speaking of which, did nVidia ever confirm why 50 series owners can't see their hot spot temps anymore?

After many days of dicking around with market place computers for my kid I ended up getting a free system from a buddy.

A 3770k with my old 970 (we've traded the 970, 1070 and 1080ti). Annnnnd the transport hurt the board, memory wont post, 1 stick or 4.

Screw it, ordered a 5600x and a mATX board, gonna build a mATX case for my kid.

Got a 1660 lined up from a co-worker, 5600x and 1660 will murder minecraft and it will do well with a later card one day using PCIE 4.0 instead of any old system with 3.0

Gonna look funny in this case for the time being

I grabbed a couple of peripherals on sale. These will work until I find a Keychron and a smaller profile mouse.

    Something I noticed,

The 64gb of DDR5 GSkill 6400 ram is Intel XMP 3.0 ready. :facepalm:It was listed as compatible with my mobo and several reviews say it works just fine with AMD platforms. I'm going to swap it for the AMD EXPO version, 64gb of GSkill 6000. I don't know if Newegg will let me return it as the box is torn and the product is already installed. I'll deal with that tomorrow.

Once this 502 dies ill buy another.

I'm bad for wrecking keyboards with coffee, so I've been buying steel series keyboards lately. Wasnt terribly happy with my last logitech mech keyboard.

    Good news,

I was able to setup a return with Newegg for the ram kit and sent that back this morning. I also ordered the AMD expo version which should be here in a few days. :kona:

    Other news,

The Arctic Cooler from Ebay arrived this afternoon, but it appears to be a return. I just dropped it off at Fedex. Hopefully the Amazon arctic cooler arrives in better shape or the NZXT will be installed. If only AZ had a proper brick and mortar PC store. o_O

    IMG_0060.jpg IMG_0061.jpg IMG_0062.jpg IMG_0064.jpg

edit: This was ordered directly from the Arctic Cooling storefront on eBay and advertised as a new unopened item. Yes I left a review with pictures.

Replaced $95 flying spaghetti monster cable with 1 $45 cable. FUs to Nvidia for these stupid 12v connectors, and Corsair for capitalizing on it. I guess the only win here was not having to buy a new PSU. I couldn't stand to look at that 3-1 though.. :censored:
