Anyone ever mess with SteamOS and Big Picture? Thinking of using this 2400G system for a Steam box.

I have not. I’m just patiently waiting for the 3900x to drop. I don’t need my TR for work anymore so time to go to something more tuned for gaming and possibly streaming.

Built a Windows NT server today for an ancient production line at work. I guess that counts as PC building.

Nah lol, I have a 1950x right now but I’m not doing imagery work at home anymore. Eight cores is plenty.

I’m curious to see the price of zen 2 chips with zen 3 released, I need to start planning an upgrade.

On a side note when we finish renovating the new house and switch our internet over we’ll be going from 50 Mbps to 300, we could go gigabit if we wanted but I wouldn’t use it to justify it, we can get 300 for the same price as 100.

Zen 2 stuff has been on sale quite a bit recently so i wouldnt wait to long.

I need to call my provider. I have 100Mbps right now. I could go to 250 or up to gig but im in the same boat as you....just dont need it so why pay more for it. But i might call and see if they will upgrade for free or something lol

We have gigabit, not sure we need it though. We have 4 people streaming and gaming and security cameras and assistants, it is crazy. 30 devices on the network. I'm thinking our wifi would get maxed out before our internet, but am too lazy to do the math. 300 would probably be fine.

I’ll have to check it out, I just spent a bunch of money on gun stuff though so I may not buy unless it’s a smoking deal.

We definitely use our 50, 100 would be fine I think but 300 will cost the same the first 12 months so why not, my steam game updates will definitely be faster.

If you want a 2000 series chip for a blowout you’ll have to wait for Black Friday I think. The AMD market is strong right now so they’ve discounted their 2000 series chips but not enough to make them worth it over a 3000 series.

Personally I said fuck it and bought a 3700x and I’m very happy with it. AMD is a smoking deal when a $199 Ryzen 3600 with automatic overclocking enabled pushes frames within 5% of the 9900K in most games. If you’re just gaming go with the Ryzen 5 part. The Ryzen 7 and above are for content creation and streaming, similar to how very few need the 9900K on the Intel side if you want to go team blue.

    Just a reminder Zen = 1000 series, Zen+ = 2000 series, and Zen 2 = 3000 series. Yeah, confusing I know lol.

Just sharing my favorite build that I've put together so far. It's a few years old now, but still running strong! Intel i7-3930k @ 4.5 Ghz with a GTX Titan in an mATX factor.

Kinda BS how nvidia dropped their "super" series cards...

But my 980Ti is still kicking so, i may wait until the 30 series? I gotta whole new PC on parts picker right now... But its hard to justify when it still plays everything on high/ultra @60fps or better (because im only on a 1080 monitor lol).

Taco parts, gun parts, pc parts. My trifecta of poverty.
