Are there any of the plate rear bumpers that retain the BSM functionality? I just need a very simple rear bumper, preferably with hidden hitch but not necessary. I would really like to keep the factory BSM though. #1 hangup this weekend with the stock TRD Pro was the rear hitch and I want it gone but I'm worried that if that goes the bumper itself will be the next hangup!

Recently purchased a rear plate bumper after being rear-ended and researched my options prior quite a bit.

Backup sonar? Some do retain that capability. However, BSM is scarce, if offered at all, aftermarket - the primary (and very significant) reason is liability. Plus, the sensors function by monitoring through plastic composite; steel would most likely cause interference regardless.

You guys confirmed what I found in my research. Backup sensors yes, BSM no.

    Thanks!

Honestly, I never really used the BSM. During the day that little light is so hard to see, plus I've always turned my head for a physical check before merging or switching lanes (as one should).

Limited market. Off road bumps will knock your BSM out of alignment and it costs like $500 for Toyota to recalibrate it. It’s silly.

Mine are still installed and register an error (alignment most likely, I get a diff error when I unplug them). I got the mirrors linked above and will just get a bumper some day, if ever.

That link works, but I can't find the bumper on their site anywhere else. I also sent an email to C4 on June 3rd with the following response:
"The company decided to quit offering it due to different reasons, one of which having the liability if something were to happen with the BSM on the bumpers to not function properly. We do not have any plans to offer another BSM bumper at this time."

Very unfortunate but I guess BSM is something I can live without. I'm going to try a hitch skid for a while but if I end up ripping up the bumper new steel bumper it is!

I saw in another thread someone mentioned moving BSMs in or behind stock tail lights. Has anyone ever done that effectively?

The research, implementation, and calibration would cost you 30 Tacoma's.

Mine are in stock location, are not defective, and don’t work. I find that scenario highly unlikely since bumping any of the sensors in the front or rear sets them off and requires recalibrating them (and it costs around $500 I believe).

There isn’t a reasonable way to do this. The BSM is HUGE.
