All in fun. I’ll keep my sport. They gave me a better deal because they had a dozen sports in stock. I just wanted a sr5 4wd and trade my prerunner in ! I got the sport.

    I beat the dealer.

my sport came standard with a color matching bottle opener. That’s all that really matters.

in the chat room blow a gasket telling someone else what to buy and getting jealous they didn’t buy a sport. Now they are stuck in crawl control at the Starbucks and need a tow. Luckily I was driving past and saw you sitting there and grabbed my ARB snatch strap to get ya out! I know it’s always important for me to ask someone’s opinion on my purchase options....

    lol

    I love this thread!

Hi, new TRD Sport owner here. The only regret I have is the damned, non-functioning, hood scoop that get in the way and makes it hard for me to judge how far an object (ie: light pole, shopping cart, etc.) is from the truck when I am nosing into a parking spot. I would not mind it so much if it actually helps the engine aspiration or something like that.

I was actually wondering if there is a "Knight Rider" lighting kit for it.

My first Taco was a 2006 Sport. Just replaced it with another 2021 Sport. No 4 wheel drive, no off-road package, no lift, or whatever other stuff. Off-road means different things to different people. Being from southeast Georgia, off-road for me is driving through fields, occasionally swampy areas, and pine forests. I have never had the need for a 4 wheel drive. I carry recovery tracks, a tow strap, and that’s it. I have never felt “outgunned” by owning a Sport. Granted I don’t climb rocks with it and maybe I would meet my match then, but I wouldn’t do that anyway. My Sport is my daily driver/farm truck/ hunting truck and it has always done what I asked of it. I’m actually pretty proud when I see other trucks with all the bells and whistles get bogged down in dove fields and my little blue Taco is still bouncing down the rows of corn, soybean, or cotton.

As far as Sport regrets - none here. I don’t think with my off road plans I’ll need a diff lock or crawl control. I was happy to have the extra money for lift/wheels/tires.

I was going to make a joke/shitpost about it, but I realize that there are enough turds on the internet and that power seats are actually kind of really super nice.

Not about to trade my truck in or anything... Yet...

sounds like you need to learn to drive, if that 2" hood scoop causes that kind of issue

Get the Sport. I have a 2016 TRD OR and I live in Colorado. I’m always driving up nasty forest service roads and rough roads to trailheads. I’ve used the MTS a few times for loose rock (baby heads), but I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve needed the locker, crawl control, or any of the other technology that comes on the OR, and I’ve taken my truck up some very sketchy “roads”. Unless you’re a serious off-roader who spends a lot of time off-roading I think the sport is much more practical. The OR can be pretty squirrelly at highway speeds. Since I drive on roads 98%+ of the time, it makes more sense to have the truck that handles better on the pavement.

I have a 2016 TRD Sport DCSB in Barcelona Red with a MT. I love it. But I think offroad would've been a better decision. It's far cheaper to get your bumpers painted to match than it is to install a rear locking diff.
I'm about to pay mine off. Despite it being a terrible financial decision I will probably look at buying a TRD Pro in a year or two.

I thought about this, but since going with bigger tires requires re-gearing, it's actually pretty cheap to go ahead and add a locker since you're going to be regaring anyway.

Granted, I haven't gotten there yet, but that is the thought process
