Any sport owners regret not getting an offroad?

    Not me. I drive almost exclusively on pavement and the Sport is plenty good enough for the few times I'm on a rougher road. I got the automatic so that my wife can drive it, it's a truck not a sports car, I have a GTI for when I want to go faster.

    My regret was getting the short bed. I could use the extra foot of storage space and the DCLB looks better proportioned.

    Umm. everything I said was the truth. And I do know the difference between tires and wheels. Now, having said that, I was referring to stock wheels, not people who put those "flat style" tires on their wheel rims, which would obviously not be the same as a regular tire.

    Your logic was sound, your data is flawed.

    Sports and Off Roads have 31 inch tires. The aspect ratio is different to accommodate the different sized wheels. But at the end of the day, the Off Road has more sidewall, softer tires, and softer shocks, therefore offering a softer ride.

    No you were completely wrong. Off roads have 16” wheels and Sports have 17” wheels. The 16” comes with 265/70/16 and the 17” comes with 265/65/17 and they are both 30.5” tires. The Sport does not have bigger tires and is in fact not better to run over your “pebble”.

    Glad you're ok bud. No regrets here, I'm on the pavement most of the time. But I feel the 3rd gen sport is very capable with BFG KO2's. I'm comparing it to my 96' Tacoma Extended Cab, it doesn't have a rear locker or crawl control and it does fine in the snow.

    If the scoop was functional I would agree with you. Since it isn't, I prefer the regular hood personally but I realize it is just a matter of cosmetic preference.

    The scoop can easily be made functional. Frankly, I don't know why it just doesn't come functional since it is so easy to convert it. I have been watching lately, a few videos that show an LED light bar that fits into the hood scoop, and is almost undetectable in looking at the truck, unless it is turned on. It is starting to look pretty good to me!

    Same boat. Went in wanting an OR, but got a great deal on a sport so went with it. I love the ride, only downside for me is it doesn’t have the black fenders, but to each their own. If you like the blue sport go for it. You can mod it any which way you please down the road. Gl

    I've learned long ago to buy cars fully loaded. If not for its functions, at least for the sake of my sanity. I'd rather have and not use then need it and not have it, or be jealous that I don't have it, lol.

    I agree with you on this one! For years, when I would go to buy a new car, I always told myself I would get an automatic, and then, and this was a LONG time ago, the price for automatics was usually about $1500 or so more than a stick shift, so I always ended up with a stick shift. I am not talking Toyotas here! Then, when I bought my FIRST Toyota Tacoma, my old 1996 Xtracab, it was the first automatic I had owned, and I was totally stoked about it! But, my only interest was in getting an automatic, air conditioning, and an AM/FM/Cassette player! I didn't want power windows, or anything else. Of course, as time went on, I really wanted cruise control, especially when I drove it across the country back in 2005, and I did later swap out the OEM radio for one with a CD player. This time though, when I bought my 2019 TRD Sport Tacoma, I made sure to do as you suggested, and I got everything I thought I would ever want! Man, this thing is SO advanced, compared to my old 1996, and it took this older fella, some time to get used to all the bells and whistles, but I am SO glad I bought this truck! It will probably be the last new vehicle I ever buy, and I ended it all with a good one!

    Counterargument: getting something fully loaded for the sake of it means more stuff to break. I think I read on here a week or so ago about someone who got the rear parking sensors and it was extremely expensive when someone damaged them (more than the cost of the upgrade iirc).

    And upgrades. How will upgrades you plan on doing to the truck impact the extras you spent more for up front? Using the parking sensors as another example, are there any aftermarket bumpers that are compatible with these?

    I'd love the MTM in the TRD OR or Pro for kicks and giggles, but aside from the couple of times I'd use it to show my buddies in the parking lot or (rarely) on my way out to a tree stand, it's just another thing to malfunction (or worse, some asshole to break) and I'd rather save the $2k (plus the other packages that I'd be required to get because none of these show up in my area without the premium package, so that's an extra $6k for stuff I don't want or need).

    Not saying you're wrong - it's all subjective. Just want to offer a juxtaposition because this is the internet and one can often take statements as inherently true, even if it's stated as opinion. :) By all means, you should get exactly what you want for the amount of money you're spending on these things.

    I got the Sport with the tri fold cover and tech package and was not happy with either of them. I immediately upgraded the cover because the original allowed in too much rain. The radio has too many options, I just want to channel surf radio stations without hitting three touch points.

    Minor complaints, love the truck, hate that I paid extra for those items.

    If you set the audio on radio and then set your favorite presets you can use a steering wheel to just surf up and down. Pretty simple. Unfortunately it looks like all modern cars are going to have inherently complex touch screens on their audio systems from 2018 onward.

    That's what I do, I use the simple nav on my steering wheel to avoid having to use the touch screen while driving.

    LOL - In my younger days - I too had many standard transmissions because the automatic was such a big price jump, same with AC - LOL. I had a lot of hot (literally) rides shifting gears. Boy, have the 'options' on vehicles changed in the past 40-50 years??!!!!!! I remember when my kids were little; I bought a new Tundra (2005) - they were shocked as they had never ridden in a vehicle without a TV/TVs in the back (I think my wife had a Hightop Conversion van and Yukon XL Denali at the time).
