Any Tacoma Production Updates out of Mexico?

I was looking at a GMC and I believe Chevy has the same incentives. Not surprising but they won't let you stack incentives last month there was $2700 off and 0% for 36mo most manufacturers wont give you all of their incentives. Manufacturers need to offer better incentives and lower prices to move trucks.

 

Ok so I guess I’m lost…. Dealer said that “they have picked up our order and he was waiting on a vin before they could track it”. Is that not true then? I checked yesterday afternoon and was told no vin yet? It has been in 1-month Since “they ordered “

 

As already mentioned, there is "No Ordering" with Toyota. Dealers can request and allocation of a vehicle in a specific color, and/or factory option. It could take a week or many weeks to finally get the requested allocation approved. Dealers can also trade allocations between each other and then have the allocation reassigned.

Then there are PIO's (Port Installed Options). These options include tonneau covers, running boards, spray bed liner and most of the selectable items. These can be customized by your dealer the have completed at the port of import of your vehicle. There however is a time limit and the request of option needs to be finalized in advance of you vehicle reaching the port. If your vehicle is to late in this time frame, then it may come with options you do not want or possibly missing item you do want. I have also talked to dealers that do not want to get involved in adjusting options, which I think is poor business practice and they will not get my business.

If it has left the factory, then a VIN has been assigned.

 

i am happy i was able to find a nearby allocation through smartpath that was (mostly) exactly what i want for a decent discount. it's not even a crazy configuration (TRD sport premium short bed in underground, flexible on all other options), and there were only 2 allocations in existence within a 100 mile radius. it's being built this week - i'll consider myself lucky if i have it by december.

 

I waited 3 months so far. Mine has taken 2 weeks since it left SanDiego to get to SLC about a 13 hour drive. I’m very disappointed this time around buying a Toyota. They need to do actual Ordering not gatekeeping, stupid unwanted port add ons allocations for volume dealerships. This time i seriously considered other brands and almost canceled several times. Toyota is the least shitty out of the options now instead of the best option for all my past Toyotas.

 

Only a week after but mine was already in the pipeline before I put a deposit down on it.

 

When I "ordered" mine — chose an existing allocation — it wasn't even formally in their sales system yet. The sales manager ended up poking their inventory manager to find it and put my name on it as soon as it was listed someplace where they could. Even then they said it was too late to change any of the options, which I found a bit odd even with the PIO's considering the truck at that point only existed as a glimmer in an assembly line worker's eye. I wonder if my dealer just couldn't be bothered to push for changes. I didn't because it's close enough to what I wanted. I did find it kind of interesting in that it seemed to fly in the face of common sense and certainly flies in the face of what you're saying. YMMV, I guess.

As for timing, I think it was about three weeks from when the allocation officially "went" to the dealer and when I had noticed it had a fake VIN. It had the fake VIN for maybe ten days before having a real VIN but was listed "in the build phase" for at least two more weeks before being listed "possibly in transit." Its estimated arrival date updated this weekend such that it may be "available" as early as tomorrow. I assume that means it may even be at the dealer right now but hasn't been unwrapped, PDI'd, or prepped yet.

I'm getting this info from the search function on my dealer's website. Who knows how accurate it is. I've only reached out to my sales guy a couple times for updates because I'm specifically trying to avoid being a pest.

 

Out of curiosity, what was the build week from your "fake" (temporary) VIN? For example, mine ends in 41CXYZ, so from what I have read that means the build week is 41 (this week).

 

So yours is getting built this week! Only 4 weeks to go for transport

Ok so I get all the not really an order part. My dealer said they had an allocation and just needed the factory to pick that up? So not really? I am looking for a hybrid, think that is making a difference? Or am I just being too antsy?

well my allocation has now switched to a real VIN, so that's encouraging. progress!

 

Does anybody know if they are even building any 24 or 25 Limited hybrid’s. As far as I can see on the website they have 0-within 500miles of me and the dealer says none in his system? I know some have waited many months, I’m only in 3 and a half so far but am getting ants in my pants.

New Orleans area. Dealing with Toyota of Kenner, my Son is in the car business so we know someone, they are part of the Gulf South system. I am looking for a Limited hybrid Red,Black or Underground with black int.

 

There are 5 hybrids in LA but none are limited models. You need to go to TX if you want a Limited close by
