Hi everybody, Anybody in CT area willing to drive up to see @TacoStandCT ? He' needs to see a 3rd gen Taco with newer design of 3rd brake lights, to make the rear lights bracket. See his work here.

I live in So Cal, or else I would've driven up to see him. Whoever goes, I will buy you a beer and pizzas and have it sent to you. Heck, I'd even pay for your gas and expenses.

@TacoStandCT , If the older brackets are surplus, can it not be used to cut and use to make a 3rd gen compatible bracket for the rear lights?

Very interesting, where in CT is he located. I am driving through there tomorrow heading up to Maine. If he is on the way I might be able to stop.

Keep in mind the 3rd Gen 3rd brake light is not as easy to remove as the previous gen.(2 exterior screws)
You will need to drop the headliner to gain access to the backside of the light and remove the nuts.
Nice idea on the lights though. Maybe some smaller cube style won't look as bulky..

I'm in Socal, but I just want to say thats a pretty cool product. Looks very clean and well made too. Thats a bummer to hear it is harder to get the back light off on a 3rd gen.

It's an excellent product and very useful too while you're setting up a camp or camping and needs more light besides bonfire or your small flashlight etc. I'm in Socal too, I wish I could give him my truck. Sadly though, @TacoStandCT has no plans of making it for our models yet, until he turns over some profit from the existing product. So we all can expect a long wait :tumbleweed:.

I'm curious if I could buy one of the existing model, trace the outlines of my model 3rd brake light on it using a sharpie, and then use my dremel to sand and shape it to conform to adapt.

When you get to the lights for a 3rd gen, will you offer a wide beam as well?

I live in Rhode Island and would be willing to see what can be done about letting him experiment with mine. Don't need the lights for camping so much but more for tailgating during the summer time and then when the endless night (winter here in the NE) sets in, would be nice for seeing outside at 5 in the afternoon

Hello bacon_st, the newer (clear) 3rd gen light is larger than the previous version. So sadly that makes all of the 1st and 2nd gen brackets I have useless for 3rd gen development.

Roger that, from what I can tell the 3rd gen better bed light mod will be much more similar to the 1st gen posted here. Not a simple as the 2nd gen but still doable in an afternoon with a few beers.

Thank you, you can check out the link above to the 1st gen installation. Shouldn't be too bad even though you have to come from the inside.

Thank you for the kind words, my BBL's have been nothing short of extremely useful for myself and the others who have purchased them. I will do what I can to get a version made for your truck. As for the tracing part...sadly your light is larger than our bracket so there wont be much to trace.

After we have developed brackets for all 3 generations, yes we aim to expand our light offerings. Including a wide beam

A wide beam would be very nice.

I hear that, these will certainly up your tailgate game and night time visibility. Lets take all the 3rd gen discussion over to this post so I can keep track of everything and hopefully get something worked out for your truck

No doubt, but we have been very pleasantly surprised at just how capable the standard "spot" beams are. I put that in quotes because these things put out a lot of light and even though they are spot beams and look like spot beams in most of the pictures, they provide ample light for anything in the general area behind the truck.
