Damn ! I knew one of you rule-loving macho men was gonna bring up the man-card probation thing since I read the instructions... So to make up for it, I went out drinking and shooting up the highway signs. Does that make up for it ??? If not, I guess I'll have to grill up some still-bleeding steaks for dinner to get over this low testosterone moment ! :D:D:D:D

The cross pieces are there, they are hinged and stow away running along the length of the truck to reduce wind noise, aero drag, and facilitate easier washing of the roof.

    A few bolts are different.
Would anyone care to measure from end to end the portion on the cross bar that is exposed when the cross bar is stowed like in this pic please? (full length of space under stowed cross bar)

Sharp looking truck. What window tint do you have on front and back?

That is not mine. I only asked for the specific measurements.

If i had to guess, back tint looks factory and front windows look 50% - stock.

You don't need measurements. Just pull the rubber protectors back and look for the welded nuts that lie along the track in various locations. The dealer is full of crap and your parents fell for it. THIS IS A NO DRILL INSTALL!!!! You can install it in 30 minutes with a few torx bits, wrachet and an extension. The rubber/vinyl fillers protect the track and the fastners to prevent them from filling full of crap and prevent wind noise as well.

It would probably help if you read the thread from the beginning. The OP is not the one asking for the measurement. The OP already has his installed.

How exact do you want it. It's a tad over 36".

Also, it would help to know why you're asking.

Thank you, thats all I needed. Not hard huh?

I want to know if I put the factory rack on and add Yakima attachments (railgrab) if it is a further span than my Yakima setup with Q-towers and no factory rack. But that shouldn't matter, it was a simple question.

Sure, but wanted to make sure you didn't need a measurement on the gap between the rails and the base. I posted a pic in my gallery of the tape.

Hey Jeff I went from a Yakima to the factory one as well. I really like the factory one cause of the stow away bars. The Yakima one was great to but it was a lot louder because of the fairing I had on it.

Nice! good to know! However i want to have my Yakima attached to the factory rack to accommodate the wider bars. This allows for more kayaks/canoes to be loaded and I believe the factory rack will be a more supportive base.

Ah okay I see what you are saying. I still have my Yakima setup in my garage but I will probably end up selling it. I got the Inno rack setup for my bed to a while ago and I really like that cause now I dont have to stand on my step bars to get stuff off of the OEM rack.:D

Your mom is willing to pay more money instead of letting her son learn about working on stuff by trying out one of the easiest modifications in the world?

My parents sure as hell wouldn't let me skydive. They would let me do whatever I wanted to a vehicle even if they bought it (short of setting it on fire and rolling it down a hill)

Hey bud I did exactly what you are wanting to, I went from Yakima Q-towers to a factory rack and added the railgrab just about a month ago. Honestly I love it!! You get the best of both worlds, now to answer your question, it actually shortens the crossbar spread from front to back a tad, but as you stated you can add the biggest Yak bars you want, I am running the 58"s and they fit with about 2" over hand on each side, perfect in my book. If I were you I would go with the size bigger if you are wanting more over hang, or just run them lop sided to where you have 4" over hand on one side. either way, let me know if that helps, or answers your question man
