I paid $16500 for it which was a steal and plan on getting at least $18500 when I sell it. On craigslist around here JK's this age run around $16000 to $2400 depending on the condition and modifications. I know it sounds crazy to own a vehicle for 10 years and sell it for a profit but that's what the market is around here. I paid $21000 for my 97 and sold it for $21000 when I sold it. When the 97's came out everywhere I checked wanted 3-5 thousand over MSRP but I saw an advertisement in a magazine that said they would get and car for $550 over invoice so I called them and ordered my jeep from an dealership in Arizona and after it was built it was shipped to a dealership in Alabama. I paid that dealership $200 for doing the paperwork but a great deal after all.

Youll be lucky to get 14ish. I’ve sold a few JKs and both were 12,500 and 13,000, both 08 manual 2drs. If you’re talking about a 4dr, you’re still pretty high for an 07

That just echo's my previous statement of "the grass is always greener". Plenty of people that have a Wrangler wish they had a Tacoma, as there have been several people on this forum have made the switch for the various reasons it's superior: hauling stuff, towing capacity, over landing, not looking like as much of a tool, reliability, better on the highway, etc.

The only things a 4 door Wrangler has on a Tacoma is off-roading and probably hauling 3 other people.

But obviously if you want a Wrangler, get one.

Sticker on this had to be more that a TRD pro right? I know when I was looking, most dealers around here wanted damn near 50k+ for a dealer modded Rubicon

absolutely waiting for this. the lack of a bed is what prompted us to get a Tacoma. Its not easy to find a 6 spd pick up. even harder to find one that is also a convertible...this jeep may be our next purchase

I’ve seen a handful of members here switch from a Jeep. You’ll also see Toyota people switch to Jeep “for various reasons.”

I already mentioned previously I don’t need a bed to haul shit,
I don’t need to tow much anymore,
Overlanding is a yuppy term for off-roading and I’m sure the Jeep would be better off,
I genuinely think third gens look way way way more toolish,
Reliability is debatable with the current truck I have,
Again the JKs are better on the highway compared to my first gen.

In this case, the grass is actually greener on the other side. If you don’t agree with it, that’s fine.

    All stock... for now
Also depends where you’re at. He could easily get $18,500 out here in Cali, also Hawaii, Seattle, Oregon, Florida. I was in the market for a used wrangler unlimited, and had no luck finding anything under $18K that was decent.

My brother that lives in Texas sold his 06 for $16000 about three months ago and mine is a lot nicer that his so I don't think I'm that far off on my price. Your JK's must have been none modified sports. His was a Rubicon and he lives in Texarkana.

I sell Jeeps and have my Texas dealers license....

An 06 rubicon is worth every bit of 16 as long as it’s lower miles. They were both modified sports. All I’m saying is you’re not getting anywhere near what you paid for a 2dr

Tacoma is much more stable at higher speeds on and off-road.
Regarding toolish looks - That's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but personally just the pure overall impracticality of the Wrangler makes it look like a vehicle perfect for a tool. All you have to do is take a look at the majority of people driving them.
History shows Jeeps (Mopar, in general) are one of the worst in terms of reliability, so there is that.
And of course a late model Jeep is better than a first gen Taco on the highway.

    I have had both.

The jeep is a superior off road vehicle in a stock configuration, hands down. You just can't beat the straight axle for rocks and rough trails.

The after market following is the largest for any vehicle sold.

However, I hated the confined space, and the lack of a bed. I also was displeased with the interior and quality. Within a year I was noticing little things like stitching coming our of seats, or plastic molding popping out of place.

I believe that the Tacoma is a better all around vehicle.

    Just my opinion though.

I don’t like high speed off-roading so we’re fine there. Douchebags drive all vehicles including third gens and Jeeps, I don’t buy a vehicle depending on what other people drive so I’m fine there as well.

I agree Mopars name for reliability isn’t great, but I think FCA is focusing on the wrangler and reliability is improving to the point where I’m comfortable with it.

Still a great vehicle. Honestly, I miss it some days for the simplicity of the suspension. Most of the off road activity I do does not require desert race truck suspension, which doesn't do great on rocks anyways.

You are't going to go wrong with a Wrangler, but I think you would be surprised at the lack of space in one.

Mine is not a dd and has low miles on it. I mainly drive it to the beach or just riding around or going on rides. Its heavily modified Sahara that's been garage kept so I don't understand why you think an 06 would be worth $16000 but mine isn't. I just base it off what other jeeps are selling for in my area.

I seriously considered a Jeep when I was upgrading from my 2nd gen. But in the end, it was price vs function so I ended up with a 3rd gen.

An 06 rubicon is MUCH more valuable than an 07 sahara. That’s just how it goes. Same reason 06 unlimiteds sell for 07 JKU prices.

07 sell for a good bit more than 06 because of the change from Tj to JK in my area and pretty much every area so I don't think that's right by looking at craigslist and car guru.

I also think that’s my biggest problem especially with the two door. I don’t have a problem with taking out the back seat when needed though.

Actually, she ordered it the way she wanted without the lift. It did sticker for 47,925 but she got it for 43,150. She added the lift and tires after the purchase but before it was taken off the lot. I knew the service writer so he cut me a deal on the lift. They normally run around $1500 plus installation but he gave it to me for $1600 installed. That included alignment and mounting the new tires and removing the sensors off the old rims.
