I can help you out with it if you want to just have your ECU flashed and not worry about being able to do it yourself on the fly

    What year is your truck?

OK. It would take a few visits together to get it set up. I would have to unlock your ECU ID which can take a few days. But first we would have to verify what your ECU ID is.

100% you can! Youll love it! You can get more low end torque, smoother throttle, we can give you all your throttle instead of the laggy acceleration which is especially awesome in 4LO and you can force the tranny to stay in a certain gear if you want. My truck is night and day different with it. I will never go back to the factory tune..

Youre a 17 arent you? We might get lucky and you have the same ECU ID as me which will save a lot of time and a little bit of money too. Call me and we can talk about it.

he may not be 04b04 - possisble he is still 04b02 or 04b03 if he has not had the TSB (s) done. I have a premium and regular octane I'm sure he would like for 04b04. One for general use and one for towing with significant tip-in. LMK.

and FWIW - you would be better off downloading the TS software and doing the TSB yourself - dealing with the stealership on these (TSB) is brain damage and a waste of time. Look in the signature block of @tonered or @lapoltba for the TS link. GL.

Groove toyota on Broadway flashed my ecu to 04b04 last year when I brought it in asking for the cold throttle stumble TSB. I've never seen much pushback from their service dept.

Adding to the positive feedback...OVT is a must have for anyone that lives at elevation. I was smiling ear to ear the first time I blasted up to the Eisenhower tunnel without having to be screaming at 4300 rpm in third gear.

Awesome to hear, can't wait to get the tune. It was annoying on stock tires, extra annoying on 285s

For sure--I should have mentioned that I also had gears done. I put the 4.88s in December 2019 and drove it with the stock ecu calibration for about 9 months. It was much better, but wasn't until OVT that I was totally satisfied. If you plan to keep the truck for the longer term, do both. Expensive, but totally worth it.

Wondering if I can get in on this too. All the vfTuner stuff seems like a lot of work when in reality I wouldn’t be fiddling with parameters and settings. OVT 2.0 sounds like the most I want/need. 2017 TRDOR DCSB and I have the TSB 0077-16 applied but not sure the ECU ID. I typically go for the 87 octane but since we’re at elevation does the 85 work with OVT’s 87 performance file? Like @Kerbouchard! said, I would love to not be on the floor going up to Eisenhower. Thanks

edit: if there’s a better file for my needs I’m all ears. I can also pay in beer

OVT has an octane learning component. The standard octane will be fine for any of the 80 series grades of gas. The premium octane has a specific tune.

I can flash anyone who is on 04b04. I haven't downloaded or tried Tech Stream yet, but I'd be willing to give it a shot if you need to flash a TSB.

@johntoyota what would it take to get flashed? From what I know, 2.0 is the last version that OVT is offering so that's as much as I need.

Didn’t the new Toyota TSB make the OVtune stuff obsolete. I’ve read it’s as good if not better.

No, it didn't. And just like any TSB, we will have tuned versions of that TBS which will be better than the TSB itself.

I had TSB0077-16 in early July before the factory warranty expired. It's a little less shifty around town, but low-mid power is definitely still lacking. It's still impossible to pull that I-70 stretch from Golden to Genesee without hitting 3rd gear a few times. If I have more than just me in the truck, I have to keep it in s3 and just rev to 4k to keep up with the semis

    What year truck are you?

Also, 2.0 final is still not out yet. So we are dealing with his preliminary releases that are not going to be as complete as the final that will hopefully be out soon.
