Just had my 2016 TRD OR 20,300 do the exact same thing! I was driving on the highway left lane during a rain storm and truck just lost all power. Barely got it to a gas station having a bad idle and no power. Had it towed to toyota dealer last night and today they said it started up first thing this morning and ran fine. When i ran the codes i got P0087/ P0191/ P0300. Low fuel and random misfire. The dealership said they had a head tech look at it and check out the whole fuel system/cps sensor/and ECU. All came back OK. When i asked if my truck was under the recall for the CPS they said no, which i later check to confirm.

    You have any problems since?

If your worried about the CPS why don't you just put a new one in yourself? It's very easy to access

Nope not one problem since. I just rolled over 20k miles today. Here's the writeup they gave me with the codes, I was able to go back and find it on my phone.

If it's a 2016, it should have qualified for the recall.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
Here's a "me too" post, 2016 DCSB TRD Sport, 3.5 MT 7K miles, sudden complete loss of power at 65-ish on freeway. Did not die, but no throttle response, bucking on attempted driving as if out of fuel. No CEL. Shortly afterwards able to drive cautiously/slowly with a few episodes of bucking. OBD2 tells me P0087 fuel rail pressure low, P0171/P0174 bank 1/bank 2 lean. I didn't pop a CEL and TRAC off light until I got to destination about 2 miles away, shut it off, and restarted. Later it seemed to run fine and I drove it home 13 miles, on surface streets. I was nowhere near low on gas.
I read a great deal on this forum on my codes, then posted up a thread. It was suggested I had a bad CKP (CKP is Toyota-speak for CPS) even though I did not display a CKP code. Toyota was unwilling to sell me the upgraded 90919-05098 part, telling me it was a service only part. Let's just say I got one anyway and leave out the details. Interestingly enough, the CKP I had already pulled off my truck (build date 6/16) was already the new part, and of course I had not been recalled as others had. I checked and found no outstanding recalls on my VIN. While I am somewhat skeptical the issue is CKP since I showed no CKP code, AND I have the "new/upgraded" part in my vehicle originally, I installed the new part I bought today. Of course it runs fine now, but things do run fine, until they don't, right? I am not certain that this is a fix, but from many hours of reading it seems the right thing to do.
I found that the NEW new part no longer has the circle hash marks, it has what appears to be 2 parallel lines like an equals sign, and the tiny imprinted numbers are now 0972 06U27 versus the original part being 0971 04T16. Picture provided of the two, NEW new part on left, original part on right. I suppose I would not launch on a cross country trip right now, but the best I could do would be a cross island trip, and I'm going to stick to surface streets for now. I have only driven it about 25 miles post installing the new CKP. Was a TSB ever issued for this problem, or was it just a recall for early production models prior to sometime before 6/16? Toyota is definitely aware of it, the Dealership Parts department is hoarding this part and is not selling it to people.
Installation I did laying under the truck, 1/4" drive ratchet w 3" extension and 10mm deepwell socket. It was not difficult to do it this way, and I figure it could be done "on the trail" so long as the CAT had cooled off a bit. No need to pull off tire, remove wheel well flap, etc.
I do not know if this is helpful to this thread, or to this forum, but it's another data point, and of course I will fill in later if everything is hunkey dorey, but how long would it be to the next breakdown anyway?

What did it take to fix your truck? I'm intrigued by your symptoms, and the MIL Codes that were stored--can you tell me more about your experience please?

I should update that my swapping the CKP did not remedy the problem as it recurred a few days later under identical circumstances at just about the exact same spot on the highway. Additional codes showing random cylinder misfire. I have another thread going at this point, but there is a lot of experience here on this thread. Currently my truck is at the Dealership since early December. They replaced the fuel rail sensor and it failed on them again on their test drive. Currently the truck remains with them but we're closing in on a month now. I understand the holidays have led to some delays, but I'm still hoping for the best.
