if anyone knows how to remedy this, please let me know, I'll pay out of pocket for this rather than leaving my truck to the dealer

It's the whole part where they dont say if there have been any accidents due to this that gets me. Like, should we be concerned they're unsafe to drive until a remedy is available second quarter 24?

might be overkill, but I'm going to limit my use of the truck to near home only, not going to take it on a long trip just in case

I was at the dealer today for a free battery replacement. They seem to think it will get become a bigger recall and weren't scheduling anything yet. I'll be asking for a free alignment if things start coming apart like the axle getting pulled.

I'm not sure anything *in the rear* can be out of alignment. Obviously the axle can be "not straight" - but assuming everything is kosher and fits/bolted together properly/not bent - you're just golden.

My rear brakes already lock up on some hills in the mountains when there's grooves in the pavement. Last thing I need is someone in my drums messing stuff up though.

It's 472,091 combined units sold in 2022 and 2023. I don't know production numbers, but that will get you close.

really going to have to see what they release and the corrective actions in the recall when it comes out.

If it’s anything like the tundra, recall that was issued in 2022, as long as there is no leaks it’s essentially checking the nuts. If they are found to be loose, they re-tightened. The work is documented

I called my Toyota dealer, they told me to wait until I get notice in the mail, around April. They don't have remedy yet. When I get notice, then call them.

I might throw a wrench on those bolts just in case.

I would think if people were actually having issues from this, Toyota would be a bit more in a rush to get it corrected. But maybe not.

Takes time to write the procedure and to put potential replacement parts in place. A month or two is pretty standard.

Or maybe I’m just jaded from the Takata airbag recall, where it took 22 months for BMW to replace the grenade pointed at my face.

    Hi Everyone,
I have been fighting with a Toyota dealership for over three weeks now (see my original first-timer post below). I had abnormal wear on the year wheels (2/32's) on the very inside only (this is usually indicative of an alignment issue). Nope... they blamed the tires, improper inflation, "does your wife drive the car?" what do you tow? lets throw two new tires on and come back... Yesterday I had the final straw and pulled my truck out of there when they tried charging me an extra $200 for a specified inspection. PUNCHLINE: only to find out that a REAR AXLE RECALL was communicated at the same exact time I refused to allow this charged inspection. My liberal arts Masters trumps their Master Tech this time.

I see where the nuts are located what I am wondering is if you have to the drums to get to the backing plate to put a wrench on the bolt to tighten down the nuts.

They are pressed in studs not bolts with heads you have to hold onto to tighten.

I don't think this recall wouldn't be causing the symptoms you're having. If it's truly the bolts people are speculating it to be, you would have other issues other than tire wear.
