My truck was paid for the day it left the lot. I've had 4x4's in my garage for over 30 years, some with mods for the trail and others just for "personality".
After spending a little time on this forum, it is apparent that almost every thread referencing "driveline" problems are directly related to a "lift" or suspension mod of some kind. So, I agree with an earlier poster, a stock 4x4 is very capable. My Sport will spend 80% of it's life on a road and any off road excursions can be handled in its stock configuration. Any mods I make, will not affect driveability or the stock suspension geometry.

My only modding will be more agresssive tires. Dd ing a modified truck gets old after a while.

Nah! I'm enjoying mine now, the future has no promises. Lots of things can happen until you pay it off

Yeah, I feel the same way now about all the women in my life whom I thought I wanted but never married--X1000!

After buying my first new truck (for cash) at the age of 45, I know I could never again drive one that was a non-virgin (previously owned by some other dude--even if that guy was my banker).....

It helps that my mods are all tax write offs, so a certain portion of my income "needs" to be spent on mods :D

I generally would say that any connection between having a loan against your vehicle and making any changes to it (expenses), are determined by the reason you have the load. If you have the loan because you can't afford to pay for it all at once, then it is probably a good idea to focus on paying it off rather than dumping money into what is not necessary.

If, on the other hand, you have the loan because the interest rate is favorable, and the money returns more interest from your investments than the loan costs you, then your limit is what you can afford or justify based on your life goals.

Black this black that , 315-75r16 pro-comp A/T's , 285-75-r-16 treadwright gaurd dogs full OME lift with Dakar leaf spring pack, boss airbags, 4.88 nitro gears, dakota digital speedometer calibrator, tjm air locker, arb onboard air, spider tracks 1.25" wheel spacer, sport headlights, brute force fab hybrid front bumper, 6000k 4" led fog lights, 24" double row led reverse light, storm trooper shift knob, rebadged badg-less black mesh grill, Kenwood double din stereo, 400w Rockford 12” sub . Anytime fog lights. Oh yeah almost forgot the 2016 FourWheel camper fleet model for extra traction and a place to crash if you do get stuck or broke down. 2x160watt solar, mppt charge controller by blue sky energy. 3 deep cycle batteries 20gallons water, 6gal hot water, 3.5cf 2way fridge/freezer, 6gallon propane... just getting warmed up.
First day home with my truck the rattle cans came out! Did almost every mod in the cheap/free mod forum then started addressing problems as they arose with upgrades. Blown rear shock... OME lift with Dakar spring pack. Bald and cracking tires... 255-85 toyo m-55's. Small collision... Brute force hybrid steel bumper! Not for trail purposes more for wild life deflection/protection. Why replace stuff with the same overpriced factory bs. After all I do plan on keeping this truck for a long time! I also like walking up to it more now then before!
