I'm not tired of it, but not as open to trying new ones. I go to my standby Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It tastes great and is easy to find.

My end game when I drink is to get drunk, real drunk not compare beer tasting notes

Interesting thoughts everyone. Glad to see I'm not the only one who is a little worn out by it all. I still love a good stout or porter so I guess I won't totally say goodbye to all the crafts.

Most craftbrews are overhopped garbage. There is so much competition in the space they have to overdo everything to differentiate themselves from the rest.

You end up with quinruple hopped 12% abv IPAs with hints of lavender and cocoa.

The next direction they are going is sours. You know, the beers you fucked up homebrewing and forced yourself to drink because you didn't want to waste it? Yea, they bottle that crap up and sell it for top dollar.

Give me a solid German "helle". Great pilsners and lagers beat the pants off of IPAs any day of the week.

I can see this side of the business as well. Breweries have gone though just about all the normal styles of beer and now are just throwing anything they can think of into the brew to see if it will sell.

LOL. I'm with you on the beer flavored beer.

I picked up a six pack of Duclaw's Sweet baby Jesus because several of my friends were raving about it. It's chocolate peanut butter flavored porter. I should have known better. It was the worst tasting beer I've ever tried. Even my wife said it was disgusting. I just don't get it. :notsure:

This is why i hate craft beer. Dont get me wrong i enjoy good craft beer but hate when you go to breweries and they already have a solid selection but then they start experimenting ruining there line up.

No, though I do have a few staple ones I like.

I mean, you have your hop centric ones - yay, pick one, local if you can, doesn't really matter if you can't.

A fresh lager without compromises for those hot weather days.

A staple gose at a reasonable price (for those summer days) (usually something like Anderson Valley)

Sour and fruit centric things for going with dinner and going a little fancier.

A saison for those intermediate days.

You'll only catch me with a low favor beer if there's basically nothing else to drink or it's offered and I'm supposed to be social with folks.

No. Good beer is where it’s at. Can’t even drink Bud Light anymore.

I used to be WAY into craft beer for about 10 years. a couple years ago I just got burned out on it. Honestly, I can only try so many different DIPAs before they all start to taste the same. I've switched to drinking whiskey and bourbon and even then basically just stick to a handful of regulars. The plus side is I lost 45 lbs. since my carb intake went way down.

We used to do beer fest at a pub in the town a buddy lives in. (Pub had 50 taps of different micro brews and then what the suppliers added to the mix on BF day) $50 all you can drink including corned beef dinner and all the fixings. 4 or 5 hour event. Now I am not a heavy drinker or really even a casual drinker. But it was nice the first year. Then by the 3rd year it was as others had described. Boundaries were being pushed for something different. Blizzard combinations of flavors. Some you didn’t even get past the first swig before dropping down somewhere.

I don’t bother going now. Everything seems to be at the extremes now. Even if you like it a little they have pushed the flavors to beyond what is palatable. Hard to find an everyday beer that you can just sit back and enjoy. In the past we had “mixed six” parties. Everyone brings their own mix of beers and no two alike from any person. There was always a few duplicates or more as more and more people showed up. The horrible beers got passed around as well as the really good ones. Even that is getting harder to do. Too much of the same style / taste or too left field.

I would say you cant really go wrong with any of the Munich breweries: Paulaner, Hacker-Pschoor, Hofbr u, Spaten.

Weinstephaner seems to be fairly ubiquitous at bars and that's a good choice.

Pilsner Urquell is a pretty great Pilsner but you have to get it from a good source. A *lot* skunk before you get to enjoy them.

A few random Asian ones that I've run into and liked was OB (a korean beer) and Chang..which I got as a gag for my buddy when we were watching premier league soccer hungover. The OB beer got pretty medicore reviews is very tough to get a hold of around here.

The rest are usually available at places like total wine.
