Before I go to the dealer and have them tell me its "normal" anyone elses truck make this noise when shifting into D to R or vice versa. No delayed engagement or anything and it shifts smooth and I dont get that 2nd to 1st downshift clunk or anything. Just curious

Mine is quite... that movement sounds “heavy”, like trying to overcome something causing friction?

A little louder than mine but otherwise sounds normal to me.

I think the recording is accentuating what would otherwise be perfectly normal operation.

Thanks bud. I do notice a similar sound when you shift from N to D. Something engaging twoards the rear. Mine sounds slightly louder but it could be the video accentuating it. The truck has 200 miles on it so I doubt anything is wrong. thing isnt even broken in yet

Naw. Mine is a quiet smooth operation. That’s not normal, almost like trying to jam it in gear without depressing the brake pedal.

Why wouldnt they make it so when you're shifting through p, r, n, and d so it's a straight line and just move to the left into sport mode.

Instead of the slight turns you have to make shifting through specifically in park and neutral.

So it can’t be slammed into park while doing 80 accidentally. Doing that can be bad. Real bad.

Ah, that makes sense. Although I'm not quite sure what would be going on that would cause that in the first place. My jeep has a shifter that's a straight line and I'm sure there are news cars being made that are the same as mine.

    :):):):);)
Well, older vehicles yeah. Newer cars, not so much. It’s actually a safety feature with shifters that don’t use a button you have to depress to move the shifter. Like our Tacoma’s, we don’t have a button to depress when shifting.

One scenario for ya.... getting laid while driving. Shifter can get hit. :)

I don't even know what we're listening for in that video. I guess mine is the same? Haha.

Is it that little pop/clunk that sounds like its coming from the rear? I don't think I that happens with my truck. I'll confirm after work.
