Anyone ever heard of this situation before?

2001 Tacoma TRD SR5

The sheetmetal firewall between the clutch pedal, and the clutch master cylinder, is flexing when the clutch pedal is pushed in.
So, the clutch doesn't work

I posted about this last week and thought I needed to bleed the system. I did, and then I discovered this situation was the cause.
Some past owner must have had a heavy foot.

I guess I need to weld a metal patch over the area to give more support to the clutch pedal/cylinder. Hope it doesn't turn into a nightmare...

 

This was a problem before the trucks became tacomas. I remember having to replace or weld the pedal support in my 1991 truck.

 

I've never heard of that? Just curious, how many miles on your 01? I have a 02 5spd and so far so good.

 

I've got 149,000 miles on it. Bought it a few months ago.
