Anyone ever tried a boat anchor as a winch point in the sand?

Ya I know that trick. Was wondering specifically about the anchor though.

Bc it would be much easier...

I wonder... The Danforth or Delta (sometimes called a spade anchor) work on a similar principle to the Pull Pal. Might actually be feasible if it weren't a very hard pull.

The Delta looks promising but it would probably have to bigger than is practical for it to be a winch anchor. Would be fun to test though!

Those are the two I was imagining actually. Not knowing anything about boats and relevant gear...

agreed, i wouldn't either. Haven't had to and hope i don't ever have to winch in sand but if i ever have to and im by myself the spare tire i will be my go to.

I'd like video of someone stuck halfway thru a mud pit jump in the bed and just heave an anchor out

If I was gonna try this, I would use an oversized Danforth and I would dig way down to hard/wet sand before planting it. The thing is gonna come flying out in loose sand. You couldn't pay me to stand on it or anywhere near it though.

I just teasing, I think it's a great idea to carry some kind of anchor if you're in sandy conditions a lot and nothing around to hook up to

I sure hope the person pushing that anchor down gets back before they really pull on it, I cant imagine what might happen if that cable broke standing there.

I don't think it would come flying out unless it's really hard packed sand.

Driving a modified stake in the ground could work too

One of these will get it done. That's an 8" dia and 66" long, 11,000# capacity. Pulled out many an International Travelall sitting on the floor plans.

Hey, it's an anchor. And they work great for tying off a skiff in the flats.
