I have a vibration that is getting worse by the day. it is at or around the drivers side mirror. when it first started a couple weeks ago it was hard to find. It was/is up front in the door around the mirror. when I opened the window a crack it went away. I checked the three screws under the mirror and they are all tight. the bolts holding the mirror are tight also.

as the days went on it has gotten worse. it is so pronounced now that I can hear it with the window open (opening the window before was just masking the noise).

it is a metallic vibration. it is definitely inside the drivers side mirror. I shows up more at speeds over 35 and it very load around 50. it is not a bump vibration, bumps in the road do not make the noise.... its more of a wind/vibration caused noise. i can produce the noise by tapping on the mirror housing and it shows up alot when shutting the door.

I moved the mirror around so that I could look inside (from under on the left and right side of the mirror). I see two metal tabs on the left side (top and bottom) that look like they are contact strips for something. could this be it? nothing felt loose when I stuck my finger inside and nothing is on the bottom lying loose.

is there an easy way to take the mirror part off so I can get inside or is that impossible? I am at the point now where I am shopping for new mirrors but mine are painted and the ones on the internet seem to be flat black plastic.

I tried searching for "take glass off side mirror" and "side mirror vibration", neither produced anything that helped.

    thanks
