Anyone good with resume's?

    My dad got laid off and asked if I could help him get a resume done, he's got all his job history down but building a good looking resume, im clueless. Anyone good with making them and feel like helping my dad out?

    are you asking about how to make them, or what should be in them/how to word them? and the resume is important, but the interview is where it matters.

    Now, the key is figure out the format, and then make sure you are "consistent" w/ your punctuation, capitalization of words, use of phrases, indentation, use of bullet marks, etc. Be "consistent"!!!!!

    Yes and no. Interview is obviously important. But without a good cover letter and resume you won't even get the interview. They're really equally important. First part gets you in the door, then you have to seal the deal at the interview.

    x2 on the above statement about format. All the experience in the world doesn't do you much if it isn't laid out and looks like crap.

    oh yeah i totally feel you dude. and thats cool for you to work on it for your dad. the book "how to win friends and influence people" is a sociological masterpiece and a time tested book. the most important thing i learned from it (read it for a class a few years ago) was simply "people love to talk about themselves". i know your pops will mainly be the one being asked the questions, but that's always something i keep in my head when i meet new people and try to make good impressions. . . i'll try to find the website i used to make a resume one time. most importantly, honesty is key of course.

    The key for a great resume is to make it have eye appeal, easy to read format, a great header, etc.. AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS SPELLED CORRECTLY!! And DO NOT use regular paper (20# 88 bright copy paper). Any office supply store will have a great selection of paper, they actual have "resume" paper. 32# 96 bright laserjet paper would be nice. There are plenty of websites that show proper format... Also places like Office Max can make resumes for you (the Impress department).

    x2 forgot to add that as well.. I think it's funny how a lot of people think that resumes do not matter that much as long as they do well in the interview. BUT YOU HAVE TO GET THE INTERVIEW FIRST
