Which model sony action cam do you have? I've been considering one myself, and reading that you get over 5 hours makes it quite appealing, is that at 720p? Heck at 5 hours I'll just buy an extra battery and swap it out.

Following up because I need to tell everyone about how pleased I am with Sony's Action Cam HDRAS20. It's Dansm's fault, really. I did some research and found the AS20 was a darn good camera for the price. Comparable specs to the Hero3 Silver, but about 1/3 the price. Just did my first test drive video with it, and it is awesome. No overpriced GoPro for me, especially when there's a chance I could lose it or break it on the motorcycles.

The built in image stabilization software is amazing. Now I have to figure out if I really want to hardwire it, but that'll come after I've gotten a better idea of the battery life with the upgraded batteries I ordered.

I'll be hardwiring a GoPro Hero4 Session camera soon. For those that think GoPro is overpriced: probably, but the new session camera seems to be great and comes in at $199. Video quality is good and you can record on a loop - I'm just not sure yet if you have to manually start it every time or if you can set it to start when you start the truck. I have only had it a few days, but it already seems much better than the Drift HD I had (and a lot smaller). The Drift failed from vibrations from my motorcycle and they wouldn't warranty it. I wouldn't pay $500 for a GoPro, but the Sessions for $199 seems like a win.
