I've had good success with Blinders product on my car... not sure it's quite as worth it for the truck, but it was great on the Bimmer. You probably won't get much info from this board (and quite possible a lot of 'stop speeding' replies instead), but if you're just looking for feedback on the device itself and not necessarily on Tacomas, you might check out the m5board.com. Those guys with 500+ hp stock in their 4-door cars seem to want laser jammers more often than Taco owners...

Even though this thread is extremely old I wish to bring this back up lol

So I did a quick search on this topic and there was only this thread that poped up lol. I've read up these jammers for quite a bit and I'm just so skeptical if they actually work. I see all these YouTube videos which make it seem they are worth the money.

So here's my question is their a specific brand to look for without getting a rip off Chinese one? Brands that I keep seeing that keep poping up are Blinder and now this Antilaser G9

This is a link that has Canadian prices if you look around there's quite a few.
    http://www.kmph.ca/products/antilaser-g9-jammer/

    Any inputs will be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

You can pay for a lot of tickets and insurance with what those cost.

Just drive responsibly and you don't have anything to worry about.

Too much money. Don't drive like an asshat and you won't have a problem.

If your hell bent on one I'd stick with something from Escort if they make one. I don't even think jammers are legal everywhere.

Google doesn't have a policy prohibiting discussion condoning illegal activity or ways to avoid getting caught breaking the law.

Tiger was likely not a mod when he commented back in 2008 or he would have locked the thread.

He doesn't have to be breaking the law, maybe he doesn't want police to know his current law abiding speed. Hahaha yeah right....... :)

I drive responsible enough but let's say a situation when you pass a vehicle and you don't seem to notice a cop on the side of the road? lol I dunno, I know there's situations out there where it would be very handy to have

Jammers are not legal everywhere but where I live they are legal which peaked my interest in them. Escort doesn't make one as far as I know, I already have a passport 8500 radar lol

This is why I'm wondering on other brands ex: Blinder

And when the detector goes off and you're making a pass and there's oncoming traffic, the detector would prompt you to do what?
Can't speed up... cop will still visually verify your speed.
Slam on the brakes and tuck back in behind the car you were passing?

Even a jammer won't get you out of a ticket.
In California, part of the certification to operate radar or laser is to be able to accurately estimate speed within 5mph... and if you aren't doing 10 over, you aren't likely to get cited.

I am not a "grandpa" driver... I normally hug 5-10 over unless I'm in a state where the limit is 75-80, and I have not been ticketed since 1991.

It was just a thought for a laser lol if it was radar then you be screwed but the radar shoulda picked it up ahead of time unless you follow behind a semi where the radar can't see anything pass that. The cop can't say anything if he just sees you without prove? It's like his word against yours lol Just saying you might have a better chance not to get a ticket lol

Instant-on radar will give him a reading before you even hear the detector beeping, and even with laser units, they are usually backed with radar.

As far as "prove"... as I mentioned, in California, to be qualified to operate radar and laser, the officer has to be able to visually estimate your speed to within 5mph.

It's always your word against his... and unless you have witnesses or some way to show that he physically could not see you where he claims he saw you, you will not win.

You can and will be charged with DUI even without a 0.08+ blood test simply based on the officer's observations of your driving and actions at the time of arrest.

Just to point out radar and laser detectors are not for when a cop points the gun at you cause by then you are screwed. They are there to tell you that there is a gun that is on in the general location depending on how many yards it can pick up. Better detectors wider range they can pick up the frequency. On jammers only will work if there are multiple cars on the road because if you are the only one you will be pulled over. Cops aren't idiots they know how there guns are suppose to react and in a since leave scramblers and jammers useless.

Instant on radar? I know a few time coming up to a few police cars I would get a KA band set off on my radar when they came up closer. Is that what your referring to?

As soon as you get pulled over for anything it's hard to fight but of course depends on what your pulled over for.

Yeah radar is useless against laser lol I'm sure cops aren't idiots but if they can't catch your speed because the jammer warned you. With the jammer still blocking the laser you are able to slow down then turn it off so then looks as if you were doing the speed limit lol

What do you mean by this sentence that I bolder out ? lol

Highly unlikely it will be effective, the police laser unit has to be aimed accurately. The jamming device would have to scatter everywhere in hopes of striking the receiving unit. It also would need to be fairly powerful to be effective at any distance. It actually could get you in deeper trouble because the receiving speed maybe be higher.

Police vehicles have two types of RADAR: 1) The older, "always-on", permanently mounted units, and 2) The "instant-on", hand-held units that look like an oversize pistol and work like a pistol too.

If you have a RADAR detector, and you are somewhat alert, you won't get caught by the type 1 units, as they emit a signal whenever they are turned on, and you should have plenty of warning.

However, a detector will only warn you of the type 2 hand-held units if the officer uses it to check the speed of a vehicle in front of you, before he aims it at you (having a "rabbit" in front of you is a good thing). The hand-held units only emit a signal when the trigger is touched, and officers are trained to just hit the trigger for the shortest possible time, to avoid multiple return signals from other vehicles.

Hand-held units are very popular with law enforcement agencies as they can be used by an officer in any vehicle and are easily "taken out of service" when they need to be calibrated. Plus, they render detectors almost useless. Here in western Colorado, only the local Sheriff still uses the type 1 units in their cars.

The best answer is to never go more than 5 mph over the posted speed limit on highways. In town, just don't speed, as you may get ticketed for less than 5 over if the posted speed limit is under 30 mph. Leave earlier rather than speed. Jammers only irritate officers, even if they are legal in a given state, and you may get pulled over and ticketed for something like "agressive driving" or some other infraction simply because the officer is pissed. Save your money for other, more useful mods.

Real jammers are illegal, period. A jammer works by transmitting a signal and its illegal without a license. Get caught with a jammer and go to jail. Get caught speeding and its a civil ticket. It doesnt take a genius to figure out which is worse.

It's bad enough that this thread was brought back from the very depths of thread hell but don't just place a small portion of a fact onto it attempting to give advice. Jamming a radar unit which uses radio waves is illegal in the United States but jamming a laser unit which uses light is currently not in the United States.

Now please, let this rotting corpse go back to the grave.
