My Girlfriend has a 2008 Jeep Compass 2wd. We live up in the App(say it however you want) Mountains in NC. Surprisingly that little 2L motor + the 6 speed auto-stick trans that it has is gutsy enough to pass anything going up the mountain to Boone. It looks like your looking for a baby hauler, the jeep would be fine. It's not a "real jeep" but it gets the job done, great gas mileage, plenty of space and has some spunk.

As for reliability, haven't had to do anything to it but put tires on it, gas in the tank and change the oil.

Gotta go with something other than a Chrysler/Jeep product. They may not be around to much longer. Remember bought by Fiat and they are not throwing as much money around as they claimed they would. Do you feel safe in your Toyota? Would you feel safe with your family in one? Isure as hell would. 05 Tacoma Sport 4x4, 06 4Runner Sport 4x4, 07 Rav Sport. Wouldnt put my family in anything else. Good luck. Btw Subaru is a great car. I run the service dept for VW/Subaru/Kia Dealer

Definitely feel safe in the toyota. We always take the baby in the tacoma. When she is at home with the baby and I am at work, I leave the tacoma with her and I take the wrx. I don't have a problem with our current vehicles and would continue driving her wrx when the baby is at home, but she looks at the tacoma as my vehicle and wants something that she could haul the baby in and call her vehicle.

    Thanks for all the replys.

I think I read the same article and as stated previously, it was the Libery and Wrangler.
