I am looking for a way to safekeep/store an AR in my 2017 Tacoma TRD off-road. Its a DCLB.

    I was looking at this

    https://www.esptruck.com/product-page/toyota-tacoma-rear-under-seat-storage-unit

But, was wondering if it were big enough to hold an M4 profile type of AR carbine. If one can insert foam and use it to store a rifle and optic?

Does it have more room then the factory storage compartments it replaces?

    Other ideas?

You can always break the rifle down into two pieces. If you have the time to get out of the truck, flip the seats forward and unlock the underseat storage the zombies are far enough away that pinning the upper and lower together won’t slow you down much.

I totally agree with your logic. That's why I'm going to actually consider one after all.

I bought and installed this under the rear seat lockable storage unit and I am a fan of it. This unit appears to be the same size of the original plastic unit that comes with the truck, but it seems that an AR would fit if the jack is removed. The storage unit is easy to install and is very secure. I am very happy with the product and store valuables in there with peace of mind. I recommend it.

are there states that require your firearm to be locked in a safe while unattended in a vehicle?
I would think just having it in the under seat storage would be enough a deterrent for a snatch and grab. If the truck were stolen no safe would be enough.
