How many people would be interested in a metal, lockable storage unit to go under their rear seats in their 05-16 access cab or double cab tacoma? I figure it would be good for keeping guns, tow straps, and all that good stuff and also be able to lock it. Buy now!!

You definitely have my interest. I would like to have lockable storage for my gun for those times that I have to go into a anti-2nd Amendment type of establishment.

You could probably just replace the factory plastic turn lock with keyed drawer lock like lots have done with their bed storage cubbies. Obviously this wouldn't be as secure as a metal replacement, but it would offer some level of protection.

would said AC unit get rid of the center console and make the damn storage unit the full length? you know, to make the crappy design back there just a little better?

The access cab one would be just a better version of the plastic one that already exists.
