I am just curious thats all. No issues or experience as of yet. I bought my 3rd Tacoma, an 08' PreRunner, 4 door TRD with 32K miles about 5 or so moths ago. My dealer here in GA, Toyota Mall of Georgia, offers a limited lifetime warranty on all of their certified used Toyotas. I am guessing it is nothing more than a 3rd party insurance plan of some sort. I have had no reason to use it, but was curious if anyone has ever had any experiences w/ such perks as this from their dealer?

I have yet to use it (truck is still under factory warranty) but my dealership gave me a Lifetime Powertrain warranty. I'm not sure if that is the same as what you got. I was told I could do my own maintenance but need to document everything. I don't keep receipts for oil or anything but do fill out the maintenance part of my manual.

Here is the details of it:

I wonder how much extra it is. Something I would consider if I buy a brand new Taco since I plan to keep it pretty much forever.

OMG!!! Hate that you bought a vehicle from that place. UUUGGGHHHHH!!!! Bought my 05 there and what a F#@#ing JOKE!!! Told me in fianance and had down payment for a month that they would not sell me the truck. 9:30 at night, 2kids and a hateful wife. They said they sold the truck to me to cheap. I said OH WELL!!! Waited 3 months for truck to show up. Had already sold other vehicle and was promised everyday that truck would be there. 1st oil change tech got oil handprint on hood then tried to wipe it off with a shop rag from floor and sprayed brake clean on it. CAME UNFREAKING GLUED!!!! Never set foot in there again. :jerkoff:

    Talkin to me?

They hate that I bought the vehicle from there too... They gave me $1,000 over kbb for my trade, $9,000 off kbb for the truck with the lifetime warranty, they had to throw in the 42in flat screen because it was black friday, and I paid cash and declined all options/extended warranties. It also came with a topper on it that I sold to the local topper shop for $400. I live right next to sun toyota but they wouldn't give me a good deal so I went to wesley chapel.

^ thats great! You got a smokin' good deal. And most warranties are valid at any dealership so you don't need to return there for warranty work.

And a flat screen TV for buying a truck - very cool!

Toyota Mall of GA sucks pretty much too, but I got a free 04' 4Runnr from them after they tried to screw me on an FJ Cruiser. I kid you not. That's a story for another day.

I bought my 04' 4 Runner there and went back a little over 2 years later to trade it in on an FJ. I did so and drove the FJ for two weeks when they called and asked me to come in for "5 minutes" to sign some papers they messed up. Long story short they tried to pull a stunt telling me that they sold me the wrong vehicle and that they needed to shred my FJ/4Runner papers and redo them.....oh and BTW....the price was wrong and the new price would cause my payment to go up $75-$100 a month.

I laughed at them and asked if they thought I was friggin stupid or something, but they were dead serious. Two hours later after pulling my Runner off the lot I gave them their FJ back and drove off in my 4Runner. I drove an FJ for 2 weeks and put 1200 miles on it. They even had the nerve to tell me I wasnt getting my $1000 down payment back since they put my 4Runner through their rigorous certification program. What BS... It still had the broken windshield wiper on it when I got it back. (oh yeah, I showed my @ss a little in the crowded dealer and I was sent away real quick like with a promise of a full refund and "so sorry for the misunderstanding.")

Anyways...they told me to act like the FJ never happened and to keep paying my payments on the 4Runner which I did. Everytime I sent in a payment it would bounce back.(did this for MONTHS!!!) I even got a letter from Wells fargo thanking me for paying off the Runner. I called Wells dozens and dozens of times explaining the situation to them and talking to the highest ranking people I could find and everyone told me I needed to talk to the dealer because from their (bank) standpoint I was done w/ the loan. The dealer told me that they could show me the pay-off check they sent to the bank which they did a stop pay on when the deal went south. In other words the dealer promised me they werent out pocket. For the next two years I called the bank and dealer and tried speaking to anyone that would hear me so I could try to do the right thing because ultimately in the end I feared someone would catch the mistake and come after me for $20k.

I finally gave up and started trying to get the title. I could get a bill of sale, lean release and all that from the bank, but they said they sent the title to the dealer which the dealer said they couldnt find.

I work in the IT department at an insurance company and one day was telling an agent of my troubles getting the title and they said I should just buy a title bond for $175 from our company and go get my title. I did so and within a month or two I had the title!!

So figure that I paid on the vehicle for 27 months...that's roughly $11,500. I drove it for 5 years and put 105,000 miles on it and sold it for $12,000!!!

Thats how I got a free 4Runner. true story that I hope no one ultimately ever has to go though because the two years of fighting was a royal drag! In the end the payoff was pretty cool I must admit.

Well I've got a little beef with them myself. To start, I went and looked there after lookning online. Knowing the one I bought, TRD sport w/JBL was at thier sister dealership in Lithia Springs. (I really wanted the JBL for the blue tooth) And they only had 3 4x4's on the lot. Didn't have any I wanted and they said they can trade from other dealers but there wasn't a TRD sport with BT in the state. Both dealers are Team Toyota and are owned by the same people. Went to Lithia Springs and bought mine. It was late by the time we negotiated and signed (about 11 pm sat night) so the detailers were already gone. So they arranged for Mall of GA to detail for me the next morning. (Mall of GA is only about 15 min. from me and Lithia Springs about 1hr 15 min.) Took it up there at open so I knew the detail shop wouldn't be busy and could get in and out quickly. Over 2 hrs later it was finally done. I could have done it quicker at home and been on my way. Wanted to take it easy and let someone else do it since I had just purchased and felt they owed that to me. Ok, so me and my wife are annoyed and btw, nobody there seemed to be very nice, not that they were bad, just not as friendly as should be. I guess due to the fact that we didn't purchase from them. No one seemed to be in any hurry, the detailer walked in with the keys in no hurry and returned them to the sales manager which is who I was told to see for the detailing. after we had already asked a couple of times how much longer it would take, now the SM with the keys takes his sweet time to come out of his office to return our keys to us and we are on our way. So now we went to my parents to take them to lunch (everyone is starving) when my father comes outside to see my new ride, I then notice the dealer tag says "Mall of Georgia" and doesn't have an expiration date on it. Then I also notice there is a new "Mall of Georgia" emblem on the tailgate. WTH? I dont like that crap on my vehicle's and peeled it off with no problem, but still annoyed me. So now I am driving with no expiration on my dealer tag. Lithia springs is mailing me one to put back on. Probably not a big deal, just dont want to be getting pulled over to be checked. All in all Mall of GA pissed us both off. I do have the 2 yr 24 month service for my truck, but now I dont want to deal with them. Maybe I will have to take it to Milton Martin. Anyway, bottom line is I'm not happy the Mall of GA.

When i got my taco, I signed up for the "Engines for Life" deal. Missed the first 5k service at the dealer and did it myself. Got a letter in the mail saying my "Engines for Life" deal was now void. You have to get EVERY service Toyota recommends done at the dealer. Its not just every 5k oil changes, Its the 5k, 15k, 30k, and so on maintenance. 30k maintenance is pretty damn expensive here and there's really nothing to it.

So engines for life is a marketing scam. At least here.

    EDIT:
NEVERMIND....I completely misread the title and first post of this thread.

    .

I have purchased a bunch of Toyotas and have never been able to do a deal a Toyota Mall of GA.

But a "Lifetime Warranty" and/or "Unlimited Mileage Warranty" does not make sense ... especially when some dealers would cut your throat for 50 cents on a deal. ...

    PS ... Congrats to guitars&tacos on his 4-Runner Deal ... :D

Typical Toyota powertrain can go 200,000 miles with regular maintenance. Since the warranty is non-transferable, you basically have to own the vehicle for more than 10 years or rack up a ridiculous number of miles to reap the benefits of the warranty. Remember, a lot of other things can fail earlier in the vehicle and make it uneconomical to repair (suspension, electrical, body rust, collision...).

    Two things to ask:
    1. Is the warranty still valid if the purchasing dealer changes ownership?
    2. Is the warranty on parts and labor, or just parts. For example, who's paying for the 5 hours labor needed to access the water pump when (not if) it fails?
