I hope it's possible ! yeah they're pretty badass.. I wonder where I can take all the items i'm buying to get installed and where they can and "will" ground my parking bypass and do stuff like this.. I heard places like bestbuy won't do it @destin_meeks is there any special "code word" to say that will possibly help my chances of getting some things like parking wire grounded and stuff like this while getting my install ?

I don't know about a code word...Lol but most radio install places will do it so long as you ask them, just don't let them sell you the bypass as they sell and know that kenwood doesn't need them. With that said I installed my stereo myself with the helpful videos from 5star, installed the speakers, stereo with dash cam, sub and a few other items, no will will care for your things better than you. But I've heard good things from Glendora sound and a few other places in the long Beach area.

yeah I had bestbuy do my current old pioneer head unit install and when I looked behind it once it kinda looked a little rigged .. Im thinking I want to ask nicely this time whoever I take it to if they can kinda "clean up" the wiring and kinda make it top notch.. i'm basically showing up with almost all the equipment i've bought myself and gonna get them to install it... i'm sure i'll prob get nickle and dimed for each little component they have a set price for. maybe they will just give me an all in one quote. i'm having like some usb outlets put in and stuff. I have done a usb charger port hardwire myself but that's it. man theres just sooo much wiring behind the dash that I couldn't even get it put back in all the way

Every installer is different so I won’t say it ain’t happening, but for all the agents I’ve worked and trained with, it ain’t happening lol. We’re a huge company and it’s a CYA move. People have gotten tickets and tried to sue the company for allowing them to watch video while in motion (like the people who sue bartenders for over serving them) so I don’t get involved with it. And it would weigh heavy on me if someone got in a wreck and was injured/killed because the driver was distracted from watching video.

like I said, you can shoot your shot, but don’t expect anything

Hard to get a shot without sun glare, but I hope that one works. It's with the Schoche TA2053B kit. The USB, I had a 5ft. male to female laying around, so I checked if it worked for pairing. It did. I ran it down, under the console, and up through a pre-existing hole under the armrest compartment. YMMV.

Looks like it fits nicely with the scosche kit too! It comes with a surround face frame piece on the unit too right ? I actually have the metra on my current aftermarket unit and bought a scoshe one to see if i liked it better for this next head unit. Pumped to get this vehicle into the next century lol.

Works great. Still getting the hang of it, I'm used to single DIN units, the screen throws me a bit. The sound, the sound is miles above my old Alpine. I’m really happy
Yup, comes with a trim ring, to finish it off nicely. Solid mounting, and the color match is great. You won't be disappointed by the Scosche one.

Yeah it’s a hard job to keep filled honestly. Lots of smaller stores don’t have the budget for a full-time installer, and it’s a very skilled role for someone to do part time. The pay also isn’t anything to write home about so you have to really love the job to do it if you have a family to support.
Glad you got an appointment with me! I’ll take great care of your Tacoma! (Lord knows I know them like the back of my hand at this point)

do you think I need the maestro idatalink ? My current head unit (Pioneer AVIC) has some kind of adapter to retain the steering wheel controls. I’m not sure what all benefit the Maestro would really give me since my truck is so old. I’m also kinda new to this maestro thing so when people say they reflash it do they have to take out their entire dash and head unit to get to this thing or can it be accessed via a usb cord somehow ? Apologies for the Newb questions. A Quick YouTube search of it provided no real answer

I don’t think the maestro is worth it for the older models.

Your good bro, what you have to do is update the software that bypasses the speed sensor, you can find it on kenwood site under firmware update, just look for your model and you will be good after, did the same thing to me as I have the exact same radio.

Here you go bro, interesting thing is that despite that message, kenwood doesn't have speed sensor wire so go figure.

I installed my DMX906S after the Crutchfield Black Friday sale. Huge shoutout to them for great customer service.

Here's what I installed. I bought everything from Crutchfield except the front camera which was cheaper from Amazon at the time.
Everything is working perfectly (wireless CarPlay, gauges and engine data, steering wheel controls, HD radio, anytime front and rear cameras, etc) and install was pretty easy with their ReadyHarness option. I reused the OEM back up camera (unfortunately you can't remove the OEM guidelines). Their customer service is also super helpful for questions.

Here's a video of it in action:
