Anyone have the factory chrome tube steps? I'd like to know how far the step comes out from the truck body. I had to take my mudflaps off and am looking for ideas for extra rock protection for the side of the truck. I'd love to get the arctic fender flares for the tacoma but they don't sell them individually. thanks for any info

Mine came with the chrome step bars, but I took them off and sold them. I would say they stick out 6 inches. They will definitely do what you are asking them to do; catch rocks, mud and other debris. The bad thing is that they do that well and it's difficult to get in and out of the truck with out dragging your leg or pants leg over the step bars. You end up with dirty legs or pants.

I also did not find them very useful as step bars since there is not much difference in height between the door sill and the step bars. You may get more use out them since it looks like your truck is lifted.

I know that's not the exact answer you are looking for, but I thought I would give you my experience with them before you invest $150-350 (used-dealership price).

I'm sure someone will reply with the exact measurements.

thanks for the info, I've got the black factory ones right now they come out about 5 1/2" and do not have much of a drop vertically so yes they are not that functional as a step bar as they are about 2" below the truck body. The arctic flares would be the best option if available.... Just looking for feedback on the steps before I commit $$$.
