Anyone Have Their Wisdom Teeth Removed???

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you out there have had their wisdom teeth removed? I'm going to see an oral surgeon in january about having them removed and we will go from there. My bottom ones are impacted. So, I was wondering if anyone here has had them removed and could give me some idea of what it was like after?

I got lucky and don't have any/didn't have any.

 

I have...Keep them clean, take the drugs they give you, eat lots of ice cream. It's sore for like a week or change after- but it wasn't that bad for me....

 

They removed all mine at once. Put me out, I woke up and waalaah. Done! But the after-affects suck. They bleed a lot and its hard to eat. But well worth it. Mouth is less crwoded now.

 

i had mine removed about 11 years ago. not too bad....ate tons of frostys for the weekend. watch out for sharp bone shards tho...they will work themselves out...doesnt hurt tho.

 

I had all four and a molar removed at the same time. The two lowers were impacted and that was the reason the molar had to be removed. I had the surgery on a Friday and was pretty good by Monday. Just take the medication and gargle saltwater. Also, don't eat Doritos or any sharp food.

 

dont smoke weed it will get infected and you will have to get it drained.-expierence

 

Had mine done a 3 years ago....put me down for a couple days, dont really hurt, just eat soup and milkshakes and take the meds they give you and youll be fine

 

a dentist in the air force told me, 15 plus years ago, that mine had to come out. 2 are impacted (bottom). since then my dentist tells me, every 6 months or so, that they have to come out. I'm yet to have any problems with them so i pretty much refuse to get them pulled. no cavities in them, no pain, and not causing problems with other teeth. not sure why dentists always insist they come out. $$$???

 

thanks guys. I was just wondering what it was like. Also, it is my bottom ones I believe are impacted, my mom told me they were after talking to my orthodontist.

 

there telling me that one of mine is impacted, so it needs to come out. Well, its not bothering me, so F it..Now the other side, it has a cyst next to it, and they said the tooth has to come out. I have to see an oral surgeon january to have them decide.

 

I had three of mine out in the dentists (dental surgeons) chair - no sleepy, sleepy for me. The roots of my wisdom teeth were shaped like fish hooks so each tooth had to be cut into four pieces and each portion/root removed individually. If I remember correctly only one was impacted. There were some stitches and lots of gauze for a few hours but...

Had the appointment at 9 am in the morning and was at the pub with a pitcher of draft beer and two pounds of hot wings 10 pm later that night. Didn't have any issues, smoked at the time, and didn't take any pain killers after I left the chair (although I had a prescription). No swelling, no bruising.

Apparently I was extremely lucky.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. You only hear all the bad stories until after you've had yours out. Then everyone tells you the truth and how easy it was.

 

yea. I'm hoping to not be out too long cause I have hockey until mid February then lacrosse starts in March. I'm not sure when I will have surgery though

 

dental work has definately come a long way.... I remember my first root canal it was long and painful. the last one i had took like 15 min(in chair) and i was done. with no pain at all.

 

Had mine out about 7 years ago. I refused to let the Navy do it so they sent me out in town to an oral surgeon. Knocked me out cold, pulled 3 of them and sent me home with enough pain killers that by the time I ran out my mouth didn't hurt anymore. Couple of days and you'll be good as new.

 

I had all four of mine pulled a few years back. Nothing to worry about. Your mouth will be sore for 4-5 days. Just take the meds they give you and you'll be fine. My girlfriend got hers pulled earlier this year and she was eating steak and chicken the next day. Depends on how well you respond to pain, lol.

 

I had all 4 pulled and 4 other teeth pulled all at the same time. All 8 to make way for braces. Did not hurt but I did have a problem with them not wanting to stop bleeding but they did eventually. Just dont drink any thing untill they clot real good, I think that was my problem.

 

I actually had mine pulled on the 4th...it was pretty painless, never had to take the darvoset. I was extremely anxious to get back to eating real food. But don't rush it give yourself 2 weeks before you eat hard food. Make sure you get knocked out!!!

Pain does not bother me much cause the summer before freshman year i broke my hand, thumb, and pulled a couple tendons. Played a week of lacrosse like that (I'm a goalie and my hands take a beating). Hopefully I do not have any problems.
