I tried using the universal XM unit that I had working with my Alpine IVA-W200 unit, but the volume is WAY too low to be useful with this new W505. I get the channel names, titles, etc all fine, but with the volume turned all the way up and the doors shut I can just BARELY hear the XM audio. CD/DVD/AM/FM/iPod audio are all working fine. Any suggestions?

Crutchfield doesn't even list a compatible XM unit for use with the W505, so maybe something has changed. If anyone knows of an XM unit that will work, please let me know which one.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

i am assuming that you bought the terk xm unit. this should work with any ai-net radio unless they have changed it. one thing i would look at is to make sure that the ai-net cable is plugged into the correct port and not the pass through.

if not call alpine or terk to find out what's going on.

I just purchased the Alpine W505 with XM radio. The part number I used is CNALP2000 and CNP2000. I love the system and would recommend it to anyone.

Yep, I'm using the TERK 100 and ALP1000 Alpine adapter. I don't see how it could possibly be connect wrong though because the pass through cable has the wrong gender connector for connecting to the cable coming off the head unit.

I can't find a CNALP2000 anywhere. Are you sure about the number?
