JL is one of the largest brands out there when it comes to car audio. They’re definitely good. You’ll pay for them though. They have entry level and high end stuff, just like most brands. But yes. They make good speakers and amps. Probably best known for their amps and subs. I don’t see too many sets of their door speakers but they’re still good. Most audio shops that sell JL are almost exclusively JL dealers. From what I’ve heard, JL doesn’t like to share dealers with other brands like Kicker, alpine, etc.

You won’t regret them if you get them. But compare your options to make sure you get the best product for your music choices, install level, and budget

For real? JL is a top tier brand. I had a JL w7 sub and amp that I ran hard daily for about 7 or 8 years and it sounded awesome. I would still have it but it was stolen.

JL audio is a great company, but they are very expensive compared to other similar companies.

Back along time ago, JL audio had big competition from image dynamics. ID(image dynamics) had a better product for cheaper. Along the way, ID lost the battle.

You can find alot of these smaller companies that will sell a better product for less. from when I used to do alot of car audio, digital designs, earthquake, PPI, boston (pro stuff) and some of the other smaller companies made great stuff.

One of the big things to look at when finding a subwoofer. Try to find a company that doesnt put a ton into visual aspects of the speaker. No big magnet covers, no fancy baskets, no fancy cone designs. A simple cast basket, and even a stamped steal basket work just fine for what we are doing. When you get into competitions, then you need the heat sinked magnets, super beefy baskets, fancy cones.

JL audio started out with stamped baskets, foam surrounds and a "plastic" cone. The very basics of a subwoofer and they had great results.

JL is my preferred brand for car subwoofer. Quality and performance better than average and reliability is top of the line. Price however is also near top end.

Amps are great but not necessarily my go to. I do like that they have hi/lo input capability and can save you a lime converter. Also pricey.

Other JL components are meh imo.

If you’re new to car audio...these 2 items will make your head explode if he’s selling on the cheap.

Since the fuse has been lit...I’ll tack on one more serious question. What is this Apple I keep hearing about?
