It makes no sense why they don't offer factory leather and heated seats for the US trucks , they are built in the same factory !

At any rate sorry for the sidetrack OP

Seat heaters work no matter where the button position is.

According to the CARFAX from when I got the truck it was a Texas then Oklahoma truck.

Any idea on how to tell if the seats and heaters were a dealer option from the start? Or if it was a Canadian edition?

It's probably not a Canadian model , but if it was the gauge display would be predominently in metric , it would have DTRL , and a 4 leaf pack

It's a dealer installed alarm. The push button is part of the programming function.

If it still flashes when you lock the door, it probably still works.

With the doors locked, hit one of your windows. It should set the alarm off. Then when you unlock the doors, it will beep a certain number times depending on where the alarm sensed the hit.

I turned the sensitivity up on mine, so it only takes a light bump to set it off.

Due to the obscene amount of money that Canadians pay for a new Tacoma Toyota only thought it would be fair to provide factory heated leather seats and 4 leaf packs to hopefully ease the pain.

With your lack of electrical prowess, I would suggest calling a local installation shop to see if they can identify it and possibly rip it out without damaging things around it. To me, if you have to pay a small fee for it, it would probably be worth it to know 1 it does no harm, 2 wtf it really is, and 3 if removed by them won't wreck other shit in the truck. I know nothing about elec wiring, so that's what I would do. Without knowing what it's hooked into, you may cut a wire and then be in for a repair on airbags, or something like that.

    I really think it's a circuit breaker.

If not for the seats for an alarm.

It's probably the relay. On mine they wire tied it to the steering colum under the dash.
I hear it click after the truck is started and starts rolling for the first time.
I'm still trying to figure out its exact purpose.

But the red light in the dash is for the dealer installed alarm! Not seats.

I'd pull that wire from the fuse block & install an Add-a-Fuse / Add-a-Circuit so it's properly wired. But even if the rest of the alarm has been removed, I'd leave it hooked up so thieves think you have an alarm even if you don't.

I love the 'Expert" install with the wire pushed into a fuse lug/slot....
