anyone make their hoodscoop functional?

Have been thinking of doing this for some time now, I know it wouldnt actually be 'functional' but I think making it a real scoop would be neat. Just wanted to know if anyone's done it and if its just a dumb idea all together haha.

apparently, according to the neutral rep I got, my advise in post number 3 was lame, so let me be more clear this time..... Even if you went the the trouble to TRY & make you hood scope functional, It would never yield a performance gain. This has been discussed many times, did you try searching?

But since I am an idiot (or so I have been told), don't take my advise to mean anything, even though I am right.

Has anyone tried that?

 

i opened mine up just to see what it would do. i got nothing out of it. i do sit and watch the heat coming through it as soon as the truck is shut off, other than it getting the engine dirtier ten times faster, doesn't do anything

 

Me and my buddy are doing a functional hood scoop to his chevy 2500hd, as long as you find a hood with the scoop further towards the front of the truck basically a cowl induction if should yield as much as a ram air, i mean i dont understand why i wouldn't

 

One time I saw a pinto that had a hole cut in the hood, with a 5 gallon bucket sticking out.

I guess if it was turned up, you could have made use of that. Would have worked great for holding things.

Yeah, that would be good. Or, even better! Fill it full of water, and install a slide door on the bottom. Attach a string to the door. When it overheats from all the lack of fresh air, pull the string, releasing the water onto the engine. This allows you to keep trucking!
