This is actually a good idea. Usually I find I need about 8” to get the job done.

Which tonneau cover is that? Is it the BAKflip MX4? I want to make sure this will work under the MX4. I plan on buying the tonneau cover later. Thanks

Ran another 400 miles and went offroading yesterday. Boards never moved once, ha. That's a solid mount. The only caveat is that I have an OEM bed cover and the bracket that is upfront definitely helps to hold them in. For me to remove them, I basically have to rotate them 90 degrees and pull them out.

I also installed Maxtrax mount made by forum member supralee. It's a really simple and good looking solution. The Maxtrax fit really snug. I'll report back after some offroad trips.

@supralee 's maxtrax mount fits perfectly under the Bakflip MX4 Tonneau cover. Just FYI.20200208_123949.jpg

I finally got to test the Maxtrax mounts made by @supralee . I did a couple days of high speed driving in Anza-Borrego State Park and Ocatillo Wells. A lot of vibration and bouncing around. They worked perfect. They are a really simple solution. They should be more popular. I believe they will only work with Maxtrax and not the other traction boards. If you have Maxtrax and a tonneau cover this is the solution you are looking for.

Sweet man, thanks for the quick response. It has the backup sensors I can see and they work fine? Any other issues or changes from stock? Thanks!

Yep, backup sensors work just as well as before. Sometimes when it's raining, I get false alarms, but I got that with the factory bumper too.

The only other issue that I had, was that I had the flip plate in the up position, when lowering the tailgate and the license plate scratched my tailgate. Since then, I've replaced the flip plate with a magnetic version, so if I have a hitch in, I remove the license plate and stick it elsewhere. This could also be an issue if you run shackles full time. If they get flipped up (neighborhood children messing with them), they could potentially contact the tailgate when lowered.

Aside from that, it's a great bumper and I highly recommend.

Do you happen to have a link to the magnetic license plate holder you have?
