    Hi,

I’ve been following the “Post your offers/quotes on the new 2016” thread. Seems like quite a few people were able to get their new 2016 Tacoma at invoice or within a few hundred dollars of invoice.

Has anyone gotten a price like that around the Austin area? If so, do you mind sharing the dealership name? I don’t mind traveling to Dallas, Houston, etc for a truck priced around invoice. I just don’t want to travel too far out of state for a truck.

    Thanks :)
ps I’m not interested in the “service” experience a local dealership has to offer.

I'm curious about this too. i've been discussing with some dealerships in the Houston region and here's what i've concluded:

Since we're in a gulf region.. the invoice costs numbers that appear in their computers are different from what's in the big spreadsheet thread. I even printed a PO from another member on the west coast to bring with me to the dealership, and his base cost for that model was completely different (the dealership invoice cost was HIGHER than it should have been per the spreadsheet).

I noticed that most of the inventory in Texas has side bars and other GS add-ons like premium shield pkg. I was looking 4x4s only. GS add-ons can increase the price by $1000+ in a hurry. GS sucks

You can request a clean allocation. You might have to wait an extra week or two so they don't molest it at the port, but they do it all the time.

Invoice is higher in the Gulf States Dist. Region because the dealers buy the vehicles from a distributor instead of directly from Toyota

Had the best car buying experience at Auto Nation South Austin. I worked with a gentlemen named Jim Lee. From what he told me the price he quoted me was $200 over invoice according to his email. Keep in mind I live 4 hours away. I tried to work with several dealers closer to where I live but nobody could come close to what Jim Lee offered me. If you decide to buy from there let me know. Would be great if you tell him I referred you....from what I understand Toyota has a referral program.

Taco's are much cheaper in Tennessee. They are not tied in to either gulf states it southeast Toyota. The options like mats are over 150 bucks less plus they dont add on the Toyota care for $699 which has no value. Why would I want to buy free towing when it comes with most insurance coverage and get the first 3 oil changes free when Toyota does it free for first 25k. Roberts Toyota in Tennessee was over 1k cheaper on the MSRP before we ever started dealing. Air fair to Nashville is around 100 bucks.

I had this experience too in the Southeast region, but I am 99.99999% sure they are just lying since all of the MSRP numbers matched exactly. What kind of dumbasses would have the same MSRP and be paying $1000 more per truck? They probably have different rules as to what "invoice" means and what they(salesmen/managers) need to disclose.

I was lucky and had a TN (I'm in N. AL and TN is outside SET) offer to counter their BS and they accepted the deal at what would have been several hundred less than their invoice, but $500 over the spreadsheet invoice.

x2 on Jim Lee. I used quotes from 3 dealers in the area along with TrueCar, Consumer Reports, etc. and Jim had the best deal on our '13 PreRunner. Let Round Rock, Maund, and AutoNation compete for your business.

AutoNation's magic power is in their inventory manager. He's been with them back when they were Champion Toyota, and knows all the right people to talk to in getting a particular truck built. All the waiting is on Toyota to agree to build a particular truck for a dealership allocation.

Ditto for Autonation Austin. I took a nice TRD Sport for a test drive yesterday after meeting John the new Costco rep. Any Tacoma will be $250 over invoice, whether it's straight off the lot or special order. No muss, no fuss.
