Hey guys and gals, anyone running 3.73s with stockish tires? I drive an 06 4 banger automatic with 245/45/19 rubber. Just wondering if these gears will help my performance off the line and in the hills without screaming my engine and killing fuel economy too bad.. newbie to the forum world, any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I had 4.10 with stock tires and a 5 speed in my 2014. Thought it should be the stock ratio. I'm on 30" tires with 4.88 now, 23/24 mpg, pulls great. 2800-3400 rpm at highway speeds up to over 75 actual gps mph. Truck seems to like to be there too.

I think you need to go even further to get the best results. I had done the 4.10, great with stock tires but wanted more rubber...Add bigger rubber and back to where it was before, not great as a truck that carries loads and pulls a trailer. Empty it actually responds to throttle now too!

Check 4.10 if you plan on small tires.

Cool thanks for the reply! My automatic trannie equipped truck has stock 3.58s. I like the idea of 4.10s as the truck is geared so tall that at normal highway speed it never gets into that rpm range where the 4banger shines, it just kinda lugs along.. I do wonder what the difference between your 5th gear ratio and my OD is? if mine is much lower I may not have enough road speed with the 4.10s? I mean I don't need a 120 mph top end but 85+mph at a reasonable rpm would be awesome!

I don't know but the 5 speeds came with 3.31 so I'd guess your a bit taller in OD.

Not to highjack this thread but how expensive is it to re-gear?

I've seen gear sets for a couple hundred bucks, but add in the price of a install kit and labor, (if you don't have the know how to properly set one up)you could be looking at close to a grand?.. that's why I'm hoping to find a complete third member from a 4 cyl 4x4 or prerunner to get me the 4.10s, plus if I ever needed to go back to stock I could throw the old diff right back in:thumbsup:
