Yeah that mesh will do but you'll have to etch it with something acidic to paint it (because its galvanized) We used to use white vinegar to etch sheetmetal before we painted it. Just generously wipe it down with the vinegar, let set a min. or 2, rinse with clean water, repeat process, dry off & paint...

I did that on my 2000 S-10. It came out OK! It dents easy and is a pain to bend exactly where you want it to. I suggest you buy at least twice as much as you think you need. With the amount of time and aggravation it took me to do mine right it was well worth buying the actual aftermarket grille which i did after 3 weeks of having my homemade one on my truck.

be careful on the cutting because anything thats too aggressive of a cutting wheel or blade will make bits and pieces sheer off.

I used that stuff on my old 71 pickup, it looked great but with the big grill on that truck it was easier to fit.

LOL. I think about it everytime I'm in Home Depot and walk past it. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Want to see some close up pics though of how it came out.

Color matched and satoshi grille, hella 500ff behind, bhlm, sockmonkey bedsides, 17" sports 265/70 grabber at2's.
Im pretty sure i used the same stuff. I got mine from lowes though. I works real well but a little to revealing for me. I have Hella's behind it and didnt want to hinder the light output but, this stuff I think may be a little to open. From a bit of a distance it doesnt even look like I have mesh there at all. Im thinking about trying the mesh from customcargrills.com but am nervous that my lights wont shine through that well. Here is the only pics i have to show what it looks like. And yes the radiator and all that stuff behind the grill is painted black in these pics. But the mesh is so open it still stands out. It is very cheap and it does work, you get what you pay for.

    home depot mesh.

tore my hands up! be sure to wear gloves when working with this stuff.

also somewhat hard to form the shape you want. precut, bend to where it will fit inside grille, go ahead and start attaching one side, then use something to beat it from the back-side to the shape you want. I used screws and washers to hold mine in, then primed and painted. looks decent, not perfect. but $8 vs $200 for a grillcraft
