Alright guys and gals, 2018 is the year to lift my 2017 Tacoma for the first time and the right way.

I have read many posts and it seems like everyone has an opinion so I'm not necessarily asking for more. I have formed mine but will keep them to myself for now. I'm sure I have not read all the posts related to this topic nor will I, so if you get heartburn from old topics stay away!

I simply would like to get info on equipment installed and photos from folks who have done a 3" (three, tres, trois, III) lift and added 285 tires to a 3rd gen.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know how you arrived at 3", but it's gonna take a bit more gear to do it right, and you'll have some more risk for secondary complications.

That aside, make life easy and call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road, tell her your goals and CC number. Install what arrives at your doorstep.

Photos and ancillary work required (if any) will vary based on the specs of the wheels being use and the aspect ratio of the tire. Neither of which you have specified.

Narrow it down, ask for more specific pics and you'll get more like what you are interested in.

I have had a 3 inch for about 2 years now and none of my fins touch, but I don't wheel either.

Sorry, but I feel like I have narrowed it down....to folks who have achieved a 3" lift. Anything they had to add, change, or deal with is all info i would love to get from them.

I hate to be a prick, but I really just want some info from people who have achieved the 3".

Thanks for reminding me about @HeadStrong Off-Road. I will call them.

Your info says you have a 2nd gen. If instead you happen to have a 3rd gen lifted 3", I would love to hear from you.

Haven't had to add anything, except the carrier bearing drop kit. Replaced the Needle Bearing (ECGS) due to vibes, and new UCA's to keep the alignment in check

I don't believe there is any difference in regards to 3 inches of lift up front

Little do you know the cv angles are the same regardless of which gen is at 3". But ok.

I figured that, but I'm betting that TW is large enough that some have already done this to their 3rd gen. Since I'm not going to base my decision of 2nd gen info, I'm trying to narrow it down to the 3rd gen.

No you don't. You're just one way and not willing to consider that others can give legit answers outside of your experience parameters.

There is nothing uniquely different between the 2nd and 3rd gen geometry, or even your question, that can't be adequately answered by a 2nd gen person. IE the issues @Unchained 5150 addressed will likely be the same a 3rd gen has to address.

Good luck in your quest. Don't forget wheel fitment and tire aspect ratio are still an overall important part of the question. Even though you bolded your demands in your original post, you didn't bother to add additional data for people to use to help you with.

Sorry to have taken your time. I'll see myself out now, and run over to see if there's potentially some room in my safe place for you. :hattip:

I'm sure some will be along in a bit who fit your model.

seriously OP, wheel size, offset, backspacing, etc... they are part of the equation that you're seemingly insisting is more simple than it is. like Bill said, if you offer up more of the specs you're working with you'll get some quality answers. if you're just looking for pics without discussion and opinion then head to Instagram or whatever... i don't even know.

You know there’s a thing called google that you can literally find hundreads of “three, tres, trois, III” lifted Tacoma’s...
As far as equipment goes you can literally find tons and tons of build threads on here. Just takes a little work..er something like that

I think @Trident904 has a true 3” lift with ADS up front and a 63 rear setup.

    But he is on 35s
