    To all. My first cast iron pizza. Tasted very good but there were some beginner mistakes made. Made dough too thick causing the bottom to burn before the rest was cooked and pan was not seasoned enough so it did stick to the bottom of the pan. I will be making more of them, definitely an art to it, thank you for the help.

    Always over oil. Even my well seasoned cast iron. But no worries - I mean was it raw dough inside? or Just not browned?

    Had a few folks over last Friday evening.
    Cooked up 9 pies of various sorts - brought them in cut them up everyone left full and happy.

    This Ooni Pro 16 cranks 'em out at 700-900 degrees in 90-120 seconds... I burn oak-wood in it for flavoring.

    Key is using good flour ( King Arthur ) and I make my own sauce and use fresh toppings.
    I throw the dough and let it set up for about 30 minutes and then put it in the fridge for 2 days.
    If I don't use it all I can freeze up dough balls for future use.
    I use San Marzano peeled tomatoes for the sauce.
    Can't be beat.

    @Pablo8 It was cooked in the middle but the bottom was burnt in order to get it fully cooked. Thinner crust next time.
    @la0d0g Yes it was taste !! I just ate it with a fork leaving the bottom behind.

    It's probably a good thing that Aldi doesn't carry this all the time. The crust is crispy, enough, but not too much, gravy and the sausage has a great peppery bite.

    I am kicking myself for not grabbing the other one they had, too - pork belly crumbles, bacon, peppers and onions. :mad:

    I was in our local Aldi one day while they were stocking frozen pizzas. I saw the boxes/cases and what they said on them. It was that Mama Cozzis name on these pizzas themselves but the boxes they came in said Home Run Inn, which happens to be one of my favorite frozen pizzas and is also an actual pizza place in Chicago. I didn't grab any that day (need to clean out our freezer) and the next time I went back they had all been sold out. Now I'm on the lookout any time I go in there to see if they taste the same. I know Aldi uses a lot of the big makers and rebrands their stuff.
