Pizza. The sole reason I've been a fat ass for the vast majority of my life.

    Here's my top 5.

    1. Leone's (Somerville, MA) - Picture attached
    The GOAT.
    Sicilian style.
They've been in the same spot for 70 years and are one of the last remnants of the Somerville I grew up in, before the hipsters took it over.
They open at 8AM every day, they don't deliver & they only take cash.
Also, if you're ever there, get a meatball sub.
They hand roll their meatballs every day & pack them into a Piantedosi sub roll.
    (Homer Simpson drool)

    2. La Pizza Di Forno (Haverhill, MA)
This quickly became a favorite after moving to Haverhill at the end of 2021, partially because it's literally the only good pizza in Haverhill & partially because it's my #2 style after Sicilian - good, old fashioned, brick oven style.

    3. Dino's Brick Oven (Wakefield, MA)
Lived off of this when I lived in Reading from 2016 to 2021.

    4. Sally's (Woburn, MA)
Of the New Haven style choices, Sally's is easily my favorite. I've yet to make the pilgrimage to New Haven proper, but as soon as Sally's came up this way, I was hooked.

    5. Joanie's (Chelmsford, MA)
You've probably heard Dave Portnoy call this the best pizza in MA. It's certainly in the conversation. Easily one of the best New York style pies I've ever had.

It was rare to turn down free pizza of different toppings but pepperoni is by far my favorite

NGL this wasn't the best pizza ever
BUT it was way better than any store bought crap or any fast/food delivery crap
It was pretty simple to make
    And it is definitely pizza
I am gonna freeze some of it and see how it does as back/up

I made it as an experiment - mostly because I got most all the ingredients [sans flour] free from work
So there was no way I could lose

This is where I got it from:

Same here - I like to keep it skint.
Especially if it's the first time I'm trying a new place? Absolutely - I will get cheese/the basic option first to see what they got before I load it up. I'm a 2-topping-max kinda guy though (but, I will count peppers and onions as one topping, if combined with something else).

Have I already had this conversation with you?
Not sure where in Nowheresville you are. But this place....For being in the woods, by a gas station, in (what I also consider) Nowheresville....Blew me away.

I'll have to check them out. I never had luck with stones, they were too thin and you had to preheat them for like an hour, in stages, so they didn't crack. I just never thought they were worth the hassle. Steel looks like it might help that issue... :D

What's everyone's brand preference for yeast? I bought fleischmann's active dry yeast and King Arthur 00 pizza flour, but the dough didn't rise.
I'm guessing the yeast was bad or the luke warm water temp I used wasn't correct?

edit: It did chill in the fridge over night and then sit on the counter for an hour, but no luck.
