I may look a little funky with my hiking boots on haha idk I'll have to figure something out.

On a side note (or back on topic) the mig at school is still broken and probably won't get fixed so I'm stuck on stick right now. I'm getting pretty good at it and my teacher has a bunch of shit that needs to be designed and built that I'm taking care of right now. The only times I mess up a weld now are when I either get sparks on my scalp, thighs, or feet and it's just too much to grit my teeth through

Wait until you get some hot sparks that fall in your lap and burn through your pants.... Besides that and having a spark land/fall in my ear I can stay concentrated for the most part.

the 110 would be just fine, but tig welds would look way better. Depends on if you care about looks that much.

that metal is very thin, like .065 most likely which is very easily handled with a 110 mig. So penetration is a non issue, its all about how good you want it to look. Chances are the frame was mig welded at the factory, but you can see how ugly those welds can be, especially on thin metal.

More about technique than voltage

If you really want to, you can weld aluminum with MIG too.

Ah I see, still the 110 should do it fine. I would tig it personally but only because I have one available to me free of charge.:D

yup, with a gun mounted spool though since pushing that soft wire through the hose is difficult.

Until you stick a tip and rat-nest the wire at the push rollers. That gets me all:frusty:

I prefer a quality spool gun over a push/pull but they do have increased mobility and can fit in tighter spaces than a spool gun

that's what I was thinking. Ive never mig welded aluminum but I imagine it would be very easy to rat nest it right after the drive wheels.

A spool gun makes it easier. Plus straight argon.

Anyone checked out these new little welders from Thermal Arc? Pretty badass for the price, and has some high quality components and features unheard of for the price too!

That's a pretty nice little unit.

I have one of their Plasma cutters and the company is pretty stand up. Torch quit and they replaced it will the latest model no questions asked.

Yeah thermal arc/thermal dynamics is a good company. They own all kinds of other companies too actually... Victor regulators, tweco guns, etc.

I've run my Fabricator 210 everyday for hours for a year and a half with no issues aside from having to replace my liner to my gun and having to clean the contacts on the MIG gun trigger. Nice products, and good support if needed.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tempting to sell my Miller and buy that Thermal Arc and put the difference toward the better TIG gun :)
