Now that JJ isn't selling them anymore, does anyone have a list of things that I can put together to make my own with the directions put up above?

Anyone know if there is a diode in the wiring that splits the red reverse wire. Looks like one in the diagram. Wondering what kind/size.

I ordered a kit early June and received it early July. The harness would not plug into the head unit or the factory harness. I contacted JJ about it and we went around the issue for a week via email. July 10th was our last email and he said he would send a new one. I have sent a handful of emails sense and no harness still. My guess is vendor issues, he’s protecting our country, or much more important things have come up other than selling a backup harness. I have faith he will return and continue to provide a quality product.

Odd because I have the same year model purchased only a few months before. They're very stiff and don't "click" together but do connect. If you have any pics send me a pm and I can check it against mine. End on of each plug next to a fine increment ruler. If you do have the wrong one chances are you'll need a refund as it appears the kits are NLA. The jumpers are available but pricey and you'd need to cut/splice/solder the various bits into them.

The connectors themselves are correct. The issue was with the pins and how they were crimped. My assumption is whatever tooling was used was wearing out or had a bad batch of pins and they were causing the connectors not to nest together properly. The issue was very apparent once I took the pins out of the connector and examined. There was 6 bad out of 28.

Could be bad tooling or operator error. Either way, if you could source the pins could/would you be willing and able to cut/strip/crimp new ones? It might be the only way to have a functional kit for some time.

That’s the plan. I have weatherpack pin crimpers, just haven’t gotten around to hunting down the pins themselves.

Side note - the switch fits great

Interesting that one method uses the glove box wires and the other requires you to pull the radio. I would like two cameras and don't want to pull the radio, so I'll need to figure out how to tap behind the glove box. I used to hate splicing till I found these https://www.crutchfield.com/p_669PP...FQIvgzagxdKUIhCDqQNuadkZP8wrFA2gaAjsFEALw_wcB
Makes is so easy to tap wires, that it feels like cheating.

Anybody know if the camera video signal wiring goes right to the stereo, or if it junctions behind the glove box? I can't find a good wiring schematic.

Two methods depending on where you view you backup camera. The 05-11 are different than the 12-15’s

So, just to confirm, on my 2014 with factory touchscreen HU has the connection behind the glovebox as shown in the 12-15 Gen 2 pdf? I've tested that connection and it is 12v on with reverse so I should be good to go using that connection correct?

From there, the pdf directions are pretty clear and basically match this simplified drawing....

Does the actual video feed from the camera go through the glove box and then into the stereo? If I want to add a second camera, then I have to add a switch to change which camera the system views. It would be easier to do this behind the glove box, but I would need to know if the video goes that way. If not, then I would have to pull the stereo.

Are these still available? Some of the posts here make it sound like OP is non-responsive, possibly due to good reason.

The current answer seems to be "no the kit is not offered at this time". JJ may be taking a break from the kits or he stopped making them for any number of reasons. If you read the whole thread, you'll know he also made a front & rear camera kit; which came under dispute from another member who claimed rights to the idea. It' stupid to claim rights to vehicle mods (unless you work for Toyota), but JJ probably got tired of listening to his threats and just stopped making his kit.

What a bummer... Looks like I missed another great mod. I can only hope he decides to start doing it again.

For JJ... I'm down to order one if you decide to start making them again! :D

There is still a ton of info on the mod, and there were some other people making the kit. JJ had a fully plug and play kit, which made it very easy.
I'm still trying to figure out if the camera video feed goes right to the stereo, or transitions somwhere behind the glove box. It would be great to know if adding a front camera can be done just by removing the glove box, or if you have to pull the radio (the part I don't want to do)
Anyone have a good diagram of the rear camera circuit showing the path of the RCA video cable?
