The same thing happens when I switch from front to off (center position of switch). I wouldn't worry about it - the relay just clicks off (and back to the rear camera) faster than the head unit can switch back from the interrupt signal which is telling it to display the camera view in the first place. If the relay was equipped with a capacitor it would help to not drop out so abruptly, and the radio would just switch back to normal mode before the relay dropped/reverted back to rear camera input.

    Go here: https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com...view-rear-camera-anytime-and-add-front-camera
Cycle through the images within the full kit.
There are 3 images/devices. If I used quotations in my diagram, that was the exact wording from the website.
The Two Source Selector - Allows the rear camera to be turned into the front camera.
Aux Video Harness - Creates a place to splice in the Two Source Selector.
Rear Override Harness - Makes the vehicle think it's in reverse or at least makes it not care if it isn't.

So with these 3 devices, you can now select rear or forward camera even when not in reverse.
If you don't have the two source selector, then you can only override with the rear.
If you don't have the rear override harness, then you can only view a camera while in reverse.
If you don't have the aux video harness, you can't add a front camera option.

As for your direct connecting the red from the camera and it always being hot, that will just shorten the life of the camera. Not a huge deal as they are fairly cheap, but unnecessary. I connected the red wire from my camera to the red from the RCA. Then at the other end of the RCA, the red wire goes to my Red from the relay. This way, if the relay gets power, so does the camera.

This above is not to be confused with another device on the website for a "Navigation Override", which basically is a mod to the "Rear override Harness". You could do it on the default wiring, as it's independent of the cameras. It basically cuts a wire and adds a switch, allowing you to edit things that you generally can't while in motion (GPS, Settings, etc).

Just did a rig walk around with Michael from Overland Bound today on a DD that converts to an overland rig. I discussed this mod and how I like to use it. The video will post Sunday night on Overland Bound’s YouTube channel 081BF7F4-A98C-4A31-AA66-82AA1DEF8E51.jpg

    Hey All,

I found the rocker switches on AliExpress.com
They are way cheaper than Air on Board and they are IN STOCK!!!. Yes they come from China and take quite a while but are a fraction of the cost.

Great post! I will be adding this same functionality so thank you for the step by steps!

Just wondering guys, can this be accomplished with just a single switch? Just viewing the front camera? At the moment, I’m not needing the rear override, just need to see the front. But the catch is when not in reverse...

I have two switches from AOB, a dpdt rocker, and a simple camera push in/out. Standard Toyota style with a 4 lead harness. I’d rather use that one if possible.

    Yes. Yes it can.

You would still need everything described in this thread - and by this I am referring to all the parts needed for the typical - Anytime Back Up and Front Camera hookup.

All you need to do is hook it up as if you do not need the reverse anytime part. And by this I mean you just need a two pole switch ON and OFF type.

You would connect the 'Relay Red Wire' to the 'Over Ride Harness Red wire' and run that to one side of the switch as one. On the other side of the switch - the other pole, you would wire the 'Black Wire' from the 'Over Ride Harness' - and your done.

When you engage the switch, you over ride the system at the same time engage the relay causing the system to show the front camera.

BTW you need to ground the Black Wire coming off the Relay. DO NOT connect that and the Black Wire coming from the Over Ride Harness together - The Black Wire coming off the Over Ride Harness has 12Volts on it. (this confused me a little at first)

I tried to describe it the simplest way possible, let me know if something is unclear.

It does add up... surprising number of wires to terminate and connect. Now I’m searching the web for a dpst that fits in the blank. I have the aob rocker, but am not keen on cutting out so it fits. Once that’s done, no going back to factory switches.

If you don't want to do any cutting, you can use the existing blank to hold a simple toggle switch. Just drill a small hole in the center of the blank. I did that on a few switches/lights I installed in my 09. Just a thought :)

That could work too. Looking at my simple push on/off switch, it has five contacts, but only four leads from the harness. I was hoping I could find the two leads that power the light and highjack those.... but the diode must be keeping the circuit open.... I can only find one switched pair with my meter.

I did cut the hole bigger but figured that at worst case i could just buy the bracket and go back to stock. Its not an expensive part, so i wouldnt worry about it too much

I sort of came to the same conclusion last night. If it were the whole valence, maybe not. But it’s just the cubby. In fact, I may look at Meso’s Stuff. I think he may have a cubby replacement that has a cutout for a large rocker.
